2 O VERVIEW 1. Students will split up into groups of no more than 5 people (you may also work alone, but will be responsible for the whole project) 2. Once in groups, you will draw one of the following topics and present it to the class Kristallnacht Warsaw Ghetto Ravensbruck Auschwitz Japanese Internment Camps Zoot Suit Riots Detroit Race Riots (1943) Other? 3 P RESENTATIONS 1. Each person in the group must present! 2. Present the event as if you had taken part in it 3. Should use Powerpoint or Glogster 4. Presentations must be 7-10 minutes long (but can run longer) Bring a flash drive or save to your student page Make each person responsible for a specific part Be creative! RequirementsHints…

4 C OMPONENTS Guiding questions: “Why should people know about your topic? Why is it so important?” Create an argument that answers this question (Don’t just report facts…back up your argument!) Think about: 1. Who was involved? 2. What effects did your event have on the people involved? 3. When & Where did it happen? 4. How did your event impact history? A. Description & Argument (30 pts.) Back up your argument with Supporting Details

5 Each presentation should have 3 different maps that show where your event took place Each presentation should have 5 photographs related to your topic Each photograph needs a detailed description (more than 2 sentences!) B. Maps (5 pts.)C. Pictures (20 pts.)

6 Each presentation should have 5 cultural artifacts from your experiences Artifacts need to be described in detail Remember, these are Primary Sources Music & Songs Works of art Newspaper headlines & articles Journals, pamphlets, or literature Interviews Other? 7 Each presentation should be accompanied by a work of art inspired by your topic Can be any medium; painting, collage, drawing, sculpture, etc. Groups will receive extra credit for Creativity Examples: 1. 8 O THER I NFORMATION Students will have 5 (45 min.) periods in the computer lab Presentations will be held for 2 days Groups must present on the day they choose or lose points Stay on task! 9 E XPECTATIONS … Students will use the guiding question to create a cohesive and flowing presentation. Students will use the resources on the Wiki page for most of their information (Wikipedia and Google aren’t always the best resources!) Students will reflect upon their decision- making process throughout the project Students will assess the validity of their sources (why is one source better than another?) General
