KUNC-FM One Day Thursday

Drive Planning 1.The success of the one-day drive is dependent on what you do the other 364 days of the year. That includes: - Your programming - Thanking listeners everyday 2.Attitude - Everyone has to believe that you will meet your goal 3.Planning - This is more important during a one-day drive - There is no chance to do better tomorrow - We begin planning immediately after a drive - We have weekly fundraising group meetings

KUNC Station Pre-drive Spots FUNDDRIVE – IN THE PAST – FALL 2008 This is Neil Best, General Manager here at KUNC. In the past, fall fund drives on KUNC were generally a week long. This fall, we’re trying something different. Instead of a seven-day fund drive, we’re going to have a one-day fund drive. One single day. It’s on Thursday, October 23rd. This means six fewer days of fundraising, and six more days of programming for us all. Can a one-day fund drive work? Join us for One-Day Thursday, October 23, and we’ll all find out together. FUNDDRIVE – FAVORITE THINGS – FALL 2008 This is Neil Best, General Manager of KUNC. When we ask listeners about their favorite programs, they might mention Morning Edition or perhaps Diverse Music or Marketplace. Rarely…OK, make that never…do they mention fund drives. No one ever says, could you have more fund drives? Still, fund drives are necessary. So, we’re going to squeeze seven days of fundraising…into a single day. One-Day-Thursday, October 23. Will it work? We’ll find out on Thursday, October 23, when we go for 1750 pledges in just one day. FUNDDRIVE – TYPICAL DRIVE – FALL 2008 This is Neil Best, General Manager of KUNC. In a typical fund drive, we’ll usually get somewhere around 1600 pledges. That’s over a one-week period. This fall, with costs going up, our goal is a bit higher -- 1750 pledges. But not in one week. Our goal is 1750 pledges in one-day. Our single-day fall fund drive is coming up on One-Day-Thursday October 23. Can a one-day fund drive actually succeed? With your help, we believe it will.

KUNC Community Leader Pre-drive Spots HI, I’M TOM SUTHERLAND. IN 2001, I JOINED THOUSANDS OF KUNC LISTENERS TO HELP RAISE $2 MILLION DOLLARS IN 20 DAYS –PRESERVING THE RADIO STATION THAT I RELY ON. MEMBERSHIP IS STILL THE MAIN SOURCE OF FUNDING FOR THE STATION. KUNC’S 2008 FALL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE IS ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23 -- JUST ONE DAY. KUNC WILL BRING YOU MORE OF THE COVERAGE YOU DEPEND ON, BY LIMITING THEIR FALL FUNDRAISING TO JUST ONE DAY. THE GOAL IS TO HAVE 1750 MEMBERS DONATE. TUNE IN AND DONATE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23. TOGETHER WE WILL MEET THE GOAL. HELLO, THIS IS MOLLY O’BRIEN, AND I’M A MEMBER OF KUNC. YOU MAY HAVE HEARD THAT KUNC IS CUTTING BACK THEIR FALL FUND DRIVE TO A SINGLE DAY--THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23RD. SO THEY CAN PROVIDE MORE OF THE GREAT DIVERSE MUSIC AND OTHER PROGRAMMING YOU RELY ON. IN ADDITION TO BEING A SHORT FUND DRIVE, IT’S GOING TO BE A NO-FRILLS DRIVE—NO CHALLENGES, NO SPECIAL PREMIUMS—JUST THIS SIMPLE MESSAGE—PUBLIC RADIO IS AN IMPORTANT LIFELINE, AND WE ALL NEED TO SUPPORT IT. THE GOAL IS TO HAVE 1750 MEMBERS DONATE. TUNE IN AND DONATE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23. TOGETHER WE WILL MEET THE GOAL.

KUNC Diverse Music Scripts PledgeDriver Scripts from KUNC’s Private Diverse Music Bin MUS1: All In The Family Listeners to KUNC consider themselves a part of a community. It’s the community of Jazz listeners—of Folk listeners – of classical listeners. This community is supported by the contributions of individual members. Please call KUNC today and become part of the family of supporters of KUNC. 800- 4-4-3 58-62 Thank you! MUS2: Deeper Selection of Music Established artists like Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison have lots of great songs. But most radio stations don’t play them very often. If at all. That’s part of the KUNC difference. You hear a wider variety of music here. What else makes KUNC different? Listener support. Listener support allows this station to be independent. That gives us the ability to play the wide array of the music you want to hear. Your support for KUNC makes that difference. Please call 800- 4-4-3 58-62 or go to KUNC.ORG right now! Thank you. MUS3: Great Artists Think about how many musicians are making music today that you would never know about if it weren’t for KUNC. People like ___and ___. Great artists doing amazing work who are only heard on a station like KUNC. That means something to you and to this community. This is music worth supporting Please call now with your financial support and help us keep Diverse Music on the air. 800- 4-4-3- 58-62 or online at KUNC.ORG – Thank you!.
