3. A DC B Mountains – the higher up you go the less oxygen there is. It is also much colder. Deserts can be boiling hot or freezing cold or both (hot in the day and freezing at night). There is also a lack of drinking water. Mars – the warmest day on Mars is as warm as the coldest day on earth. There is also a lack of oxygen. Polar – the south pole is as dry as a desert. Snow and ice have accumulated there over thousand of years. It is also VERY COLD brrrrrr!

6. Read independently through page 5 (green book). Write a short story about climbing a mountain in Britain. Choose a real mountain and think about travel and accommodation. Talk about things that make it extreme (rocky ground, steep slopes, weather). Extension
