9 Present participle: A Present participle expresses an action going on. It is formed by Adding- ‘ing’to verb In the sentence. When a participle works as an Adjective, it qualifies the noun. Note: A Present participle works both as a verb & an adjective A rolling stone gathers no moss (rolling qualifies stone). 10 Perfect Participle: it is formed by using having before the past participle. Perfect participle also works as verb & adjective. Past participle: It is the past participle form of verb. It works as a verb & an adjective. Example: A burnt child dreads the fire. Here ‘burnt’ indicates a verb & an adjective. Example: 1.Having reached home, he went straight to his mother. 2.Having seen informed of the film, we shed tears. Here “Having reached, having seen” are perfect participle. Perfect Participle: it is formed by using having before the past participle. Perfect participle also works as verb & adjective. Past participle: It is the past participle form of verb.
