INTRODUCTION Hello! I’m Ryan. I am in the 6 th grade and I am turning 12. I like to hang out with my friends. I play guitar and I have a guinea pig. Her name is Snickers. This is about my school year. Hope you enjoy!

When I read, I like to picture it in my head like a movie. And the next time I come and read it, I still have that same scene in my head. So if I imagine a house and what it looks like in one chapter, the next time a house comes up, I imagine that one. I love to read and I hope you do to. It is fun and is healthy for your brain! So keep calm and read on! ME AS A READER

JOURNAL ENTRIES Narrative It was about to be the best day ever! I thought my first time at Kennywood would be just a boring company picnic for my dad. But it wasn’t. We were about halfway to Pittsburgh. I was tired, but there was a big day ahead. “Hey, don’t worry! We get to stay till 11:00 pm!” my mom said. I was a bit worried we wouldn’t ride everything. Now we are on a big bridge. In the distance, I see a roller coaster! “We will be there in about ten minuets!” my dad said. I couldn’t wait! “When will they be done?” I complained. We were waiting for Kaitlyn and Dad because they were on a roller coaster called the Jack Rabbit. While waiting, we watched another ride. They attach you to a rope, lift you 200 feet maybe, and let you drop down and swing! It was awesome! After they came back, we decided to eat. I was hungry!

JOURNAL ENTRIES: NARRATIVE (CONTINUED)) During the picnic, we found our friends from church. We rode some rides together. We rode these logs that go up, turn, and slide down. We also rode the Plunge, which goes up, and slides down, and you get soaked with gallons of water! We rode many other fun rides, and ate in the night sky. I picked this because it was one of my best writings and I feel like it will interest people.

RAMOS DEATH Journal entries I think Ramo either wanted to prove he could be chief or make up to Karana for staying on the island. Because he wants to do this, he gets a canoe. On the way there, he sees a wolf. So he tries to kill it, but it alarms the others and they attack him. I choose this because I think it’s a writing I have improved on.

ME AS A WRITER When I started writing, I wasn’t very descriptive. It also wasn’t that long of writing. I used to make not even a paragraph, but now I make like 5 or 6 of them on a page or two. I think that learning helped me get to write better over the year.

TEACHER READS ALOUD On My Honor by Marion Dane Bauer: this book was very descriptive, and very interesting to listen to. Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo: this book made me think about other peoples lives and how they feel, not just my self. The Cay by Theodore Taylor: I like stories that are about being stranded on islands, or dangerous adventures, so this book was good for me. Island Of The Blue Dolphins by Scott o Dell: this was my favorite book of the year. It was so interesting and every time she stopped reading we all went “noooo!” Lawn boy by Gary Paulsen: very good. Makes me want to mow lawns! I love this book and it was my next favorite. A 12 year old made $530,000 in 1 summer! I love this book.

LIST OF BOOKS READ The book of bad things: Dan Poblocki Hatchet: Gary Paulsen Skylark: by Patricia Maclachlan Vietnam War Heros: Ten True Tales Shoeless Joe and Me: Dan Gutman Prisoner b-3087: Alan Gratz The Foxman: Gary Paulsen My Side of the Mountain: Jean Craighead George

SNICKERS Snickers is my guinea pig. She is 1 and a half years old. Every day after school I hang out with her. She is really cute and cuddly. I love my snicks! Science: this is one of my projects- my cylinder graph.

A time of fun and play. The breeze blowing, the sound of crunching leaves below your feet. A time to celebrate Thanksgiving, Halloween, and my guinea pig’s birthday! A time when families gather together and sit by the fire, with memories of summer. When hunting season starts, and hot weather ends. Birds flying above your head. Shady trees drop leaves, the farmers harvest pumpkins. Then you can make pie, seeds, muffins, all made from pumpkins. You come outside in a fuzzy coat to jump in leaf piles! That’s what Fall Is. FALL IS…

MY YEAR IN REVIEW. This school year, I had lots of fun. I have many friends and got good grades. I struggled with math a little, but I loved science. Ms. Brown was a nice gym teacher. We played fun games and improved our strength. I loved the books Mrs. Tedeschi read to us. This year was awesome!

THANK YOU! I have had an awesome 6 th grade year at United! Thank you teachers!
