1 Kahoot! Review 1.Write your Group number and names on a loose leaf sheet of paper. You will use this to track your score and as a place to complete any written work. It will be turned in at the end of the hour. 2.Swipe down from top of the ipad and type in the word “Kahoot” in the search box. You should see the opening page pop up prompting you to put in the Game PIN. Type in the PIN given to you by your teacher. 3.Use your Group Number given to you by your teacher as your nickname ex: Group 1 4.You are encouraged to discuss the question when it is displayed on the board, but when you hear the “GONG” sound, all discussion must cease until the next question appears on the board. 5.Remember courtesy and manners and let’s begin! Properties of Rectangles, Rhombi and Squares Learning Objective(s): To define and classify special types of parallelograms To apply properties of diagonals of rhombuses and squares S SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement

2 Sketchpad Lab Activity - Quadrilaterals 1.Log into the computer and open up the sketchpad file on your desktop named “Quadrilaterals”. Maximize your window. 2.Follow the instructions on your handout. This will be turned in at the end of the hour as evidence of your work. 3.From the menu page on your sketch, choose “Parallelogram”, and complete the chart shown on the top of your page for Parallelograms. Drag one vertices of your quadrilateral to change it’s size. Do you notice that the same properties hold true? 4. Transfer your parallelogram answers to the chart on the bottom of your handout, and fill in the other members of the quadrilateral family in the same investigative style. handout 5.When you are completed your investigations on these quadrilaterals, write a summary of what you discovered by completing this activity on the back of your handout. 6.If you are finished early, visit these websites to learn more about how the diagonals of a quadrilateral determine its shape. http://illuminations.nctm.org/Activity.aspx?id=3578 http://illuminations.nctm.org/Activity.aspx?id=3578 You will investigate properties of parallelograms by completing the tasks listed below. Rectangles, rhombuses and squares have unique properties to discover, so follow these instructions and you will be on your way to becoming an expert! This task uses: Learning Objective(s): To define and classify special types of parallelograms To apply properties of diagonals of rhombuses and squares To use technology as a means for investigating concepts dynamically Identify the types of quadrilateral possible, based on information about the diagonals. A AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement.

3 Name That Theorem! (and use it) 1.Write you and your buddy’s name on your handout. Decide if you will be an odd or an even buddy and record this information by your name. Record the ipad name and number on your handout.handout 2.For each problem you are to name the theorem, or property you are using to solve the problem, record in the space provided and then solve the problem showing all of your work. 3.If you are even buddy, you will record work for even numbered problems while your buddy will operate the ipad. If you are the odd buddy, you will record work for the odd numbered problems while your buddy will operate the ipad. You will continue through all problems in the same manner until you have completed all 20 problems. 4.You will be allowed 2 minutes at each station and then must move to the next station when the timer goes off. You are allowed to screen shot a picture of the problems if you are not completed with it before moving onto the next station. 5.When the Station Activity is completed, you will return to your assigned seat, complete problems you may have to revisit and power off the ipad. 6.Your handout is due by the end of the hour. You will work with your buddy as you travel through different stations in the classroom that will help you make distinctions about theorems involving quadrilaterals. You will use these theorems to solve problems at each station. This task uses: Inigma QR Codes Learning Objective(s): To define and classify special types of parallelograms To apply properties of diagonals of rhombuses and squares in solving problems M MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign.

4 Telegami Quadrilaterals 1.Your group will use this App to summarize the results of your investigations on parallelograms. You are responsible for making a Gami for the quadrilateral you were assigned, i.e parallelograms, rectangles, rhombi, squares or trapezoids. 2.It is important to plan what you will say because it is a very short video (30 seconds). So before you start recording, collaborate with your buddy to make sure you include all relevant information you want to include. 3.When you have completed step 2, open up the App and read over the “How To” tutorial. Choose a character and an emotion and a background. You may use the doodle feature to write on your background if you wish to show properties you’ve discovered or draw a small diagram of your quadrilateral. 1.Click on the “message icon“ to record. Click on the “record” button when you are ready to begin and the “Stop” when you are done recording. Click on the “preview” button to see what your Gami will look and sound like. When you are satisfied, click to “share.” Make sure you click the “Save” option so that your video will be saved onto the camera roll. 2.Log into Blackboard. Navigate to Geometry > Chapter 6 – Quadrilaterals Blog. Look at the example posted. Click on “Create Blog Entry” and name it “Group #, Quadrilateral Type”. Click on “browse my computer” > “Photo Library”. Find your video from the camera roll and click “Choose”. You should see it attached. If you didn’t have enough time to say all you wanted to about your quadrilateral on your “gami”, type in the additional information in the blog textbox. Click “Post Entry”. 3.View the other Blog entries of the other quadrilaterals of your classmates and comment to at least 3 other post using appropriate netiquette. 4.Congratulations, you are complete! Tellagami is a mobile App that lets you create and share a quick animated video called a Gami. Today you will use this app to post a summary of what properties you discovered about your special quadrilateral and upload the video to a Blackboard Blog. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): To define and classify special types of parallelograms in detail stating the properties unique to the parallelogram To communicate the concepts learned via electronic media R REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable.
