1 is the only number that cannot be divided into components having at least a whole number.

This is a mathematical illustration of the importance of UNITY. Being “1” (unified, undivided) is important…especially when one considers collective efforts. Division destroys collective efforts (family, athletic team, church). The only one that lasts into eternity.

Psa 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

1 Cor 1:10-11 Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree, and there be no divisions among you, but you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe’s people, that there are quarrels among you.

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Eph 4:1-6 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

Jn 17:20-21 I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me.

1 The early disciples understood and practiced this important concept of being undivided.

Acts 2:44a And all those who had believed were together… Acts 4:32a And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul…

1 The early disciples understood and practiced this important concept of being undivided. May this local group of disciples be equally committed to unity.

1 Thank you for coming today to worship God with us. We truly want what the early believers enjoyed when they served God…“unity.” Our worship will now begin.
