1 Woods Runner By: Gary Paulsen Power Point By: Nevica Molinaro

2 A A is for Americans. They were fighting the British's during this time period. Sam is on this team. He is an America and does not like the British.

3 B B is for British. They were fighting against the Americans. They came into different American peoples land and captured them. Sam’s family is one of them.

4 C C is for concussion. When Sam was trying to find his parents he came a cross Indians. The one hit him in a head and knocked him out giving him a concussion. John found him and brought him with him. While he was out he had visions of cows, night then day then night again, his mother and more. He was knocked out for 6 going on 7 days.

5 D D is for death. When the British come in and destroy everything in there path a lot of people die. When Sam is looking and trying to find his parents he find a lot of dead bodies. From little kids to adults there were all ranges of age of the dead people. Sam felt bad for the people that lost their life's so for each person that he found he would dig them a grave and say a pray for them.

6 E E is for energy. Sam has lots of energy and determination to find his parents. He is and will continue to go through terrible, scary things just to find his parents. He will not give up no matter what.

7 F F is for fire. The British came to Sam’s home and burned it. Set the whole place on fire. Because of this Sam went on a journey to find them.

8 G G is for Gary Paulsen. He is the author of the book. Some other books that he wrote is Hatchet, The River and Dogsong.

9 H H is for hunt. Samuel had to go hunting for his family and the neighborhood. By doing so he provided food for everyone living near him and because of that the people would do his chores and help his parents while he hunted.

10 I I is for Indiana When Sam went looking for his parents her came across Indiana's. He tried to hide from them but some found him. He was hit with a tomahawk in the forehead knocking him out.

11 J J is for John Cooper. When Sam got knocked out by the Indiana's John took Sam with him and nursed him back to health.

12 K K is for kill. They killed Caleb and ma, thankfully Annie got away. Sam was so mad. He wanted to get his anger out by killing someone.

13 L L is for Lacking. Annie and Sam or lacking lots of resources. On there journey they are out of food and they are not getting enough sleep.

14 M M is for Ma. As Sam was looking for his parents he found a farm. Ma and Caleb are the parents and the people that own the farm and then there is there daughter Annie. When Sam comes to the hungry they feed him. They also tell him that his parents have been there and there being spared.

15 N N is for New York. Caleb told Sam that they were taking his mother and father to New York. That is where they keep the prisoners.

16 O O is for Ox. They used the ox for everything. They used them for transpiration, food, to keep the bugs away and more.

17 P P is for parents. The reason all of this is happening is because Sam’s parents are missing. Because they are now gone he is going to try his hardest to go and find them. They are all he has being an only child.

18 Q Q is for quest. When Sam’s mom and dad disappear because the British burned his home down, he goes on a quest to try and find them. He follows their foot prints in the wood to try and find them. Along the way he encounters dead bodies and solders.

19 R R is for rifle. Sam used the rifle as a weapon. He killed an Indian with it and used it as protection looking for his protecting.

20 S S is for Samuel. He is the main character of the book. The British come in and destroy his home. He is now missing his parents. This causes him to go on a quest to find them.

21 T T is for tobacco. No matter where Annie and Sam go on there journey every one they find is chewing and spiting tobacco and offering them some. It makes Sam sick and Annie never took any.

22 U U is for Unforgettable. Sam has done some things that he will never forget. It will scar him the rest of his life. Killing the Indian, for example. Also killing the solider. He hated to kill people. He couldn’t even look at there face when he killed them.

23 V V is for vanished. Everything that everyone has just disappears right before there eyes. With Sam, his house burned down and everything he ever had that he left inside is now gone. Annie watched the British shoot her mother and father then after that watched them burn down her house. She lost everything in her house that she ever loved to play with just burn. All gone.

24 W W is for will power. Sam and Annie have lots of will power to keep fighting, to keep going. They have both been through a lot yet that doesn’t stop them from trying to get to New York to find Sam’s mother and father.

25 X X is for aX Sam got hit in the head with an ax knocking him out. Also he would use an ax to cut down trees for fire back at his home for warmth.

26 Y Y is for young Sam and Annie were only little kids. They were young and they went on this huge journey. Sam only 13 years old and going all the way to New York with the responsibility of watching Annie. It was probably tuff.

27 Z Z is for amaZing With everything that happened they still did it. In the end Sam found his parents.
