NS5 Session #2 Planned Maintenance The Maintenance Plan Oct 2015

Standard Jobs Planned maintenance for vessel equipment is tracked weekly in the NS5 as Standard Jobs. Standard jobs are vessel specific and are created/ approved by the Port Engineer.

Each week, the Chief Engineer will need to open the maintenance plan to see what is due. Log in to NS5 and open the Maintenance Module

Open the Maintenance Plan Click on the Maintenance Plan icon on the top left of your screen

NS5 lists the standard jobs in the maintenance plan when they are due. This is your weekly work list.

The Maintenance Plan opens with the oldest/ overdue jobs on top. (overdue are pink in the ST [status] column)

Some of the columns show other important information about the jobs. P column ranks Priority: A- highest, D- lowest

The PM column is for Preventative maintenance. Standard Jobs are indicated with a Y for Yes.

The Port Engineer can change the job type. WO is for ship crew to do.

SJ: “standard job”-a preventative maintenance job that is done on a regular basis (Ex. Change oil every 500 hours) WO: “work order” is a “work ticket” documenting how that job was done on a particular day. Job Types

NAJ: “no action job” that cannot be done at this time. Port Engineer will arrange for repair later in shipyard or dry dock. (Ex. Welding deck plates) SR: is a “service request” requiring a contractor. Port Engineer will make arrangements for this type of repair. Job Types

Each Work Order (WO) has a number This is the easiest way to find work orders. So include WO numbers when emailing questions about maintenance.

The WO number must be included on permits & JSAs

Any column in NS5 can be sorted by clicking once on the column heading This one has been sorted alphabetically by clicking on the Job Title.

The Maintenance Plan can be exported as an Excel file, saved as a pdf or printed out. Click the right arrow box at the top right corner of any NS5 table for a list of options.

Every week, management reviews the Jobs Analysis box The total number of jobs should remain fairly consistent if work is being documented and completed in a timely manner.
