Increasing the Blend - Project Aims Further develop and embed the use of effective e-technologies in teaching, learning and assessment practice across the ACL Services Increase the number of tutors taking part in CPD to develop their blended learning practice Increase the number of interactive, online resources to support learner, employer and workforce development. 13. What is a screencast? A video recording of what is happening on all or part of a computer /laptop screen A method of providing voice over audio to use as commentary/instructions for learners to play back in their own time

14. Benefits of ScreenCasting Screencasting allows learners to learn in a combined visual and audio environment. Allows learners to watch visual instructions/demonstrations at their own pace avoiding tutor recapping unnecessarily. Unlike text documents, screencasts can be recorded quickly and during class time. They can be kept as a ready resource to use at any time. Benefits learners that may have missed a class, by being able to watch back what was being presented/demonstrated in the class they missed. Helps to address different learning styles

19. Plan and create a screencast  Working in pairs or small groups, discuss and plan what type of screencast you would like to create. 15 min  Using the hand-out provided, create a screencast that you have planned. 1 hr

Copying of extracts of a work (including screencasts of broadcast content) for the purposes of "illustration for instruction" is permitted under copyright law specifically s.32 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (CDPA) as long as the conditions of the exception are satisfied. The conditions include that the use is fair dealing and non-commercial (which is fine as we are using it for educational use) and that the work is acknowledged. Much of the above response is taken from “Questions and Answers - Copyright Changes 2014” on the Jisc Legal website at - http://jiscleg.al/CopyrightQandA which has further detailed information on how works can be used in teaching and learning without licence.http://jiscleg.al/CopyrightQandA An example of this would be creating a screencast of something on the website for educational use is allowed. Using website content (web pages, YouTube etc.) in your screencast.
