2 Denise Hoy Dr. Denise Hoy is the Director of the Agee Lierly Life Preparation Services Center (ALLPS), an alternative high school in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Denise has also served as Assistant Principal and Special Education Director for the district. She has learned through experience that today’s students need more than traditional learning methods in order to achieve and succeed. Her innovative initiatives such as the “Catch Up” and “Keep Up” programs have helped increased graduation rates while lowering discipline referrals.

3 Denise Hoy Staff (22.5): 14 teachers, 3 classified staff members, 2 administrators, 1 counselor, ½ time Nurse, full-time School Resource Officer, ½ time mental health counselor, fulltime Behavior Support Specialist Enrollment: 192 excludes 41 early graduating seniors Grades served - 9-12 th 24% African American; 8% Hispanic; 2% Other; 66% Caucasian 82% Free Reduced Lunch Isolated campus (.5 mile from the traditional high school) Closed campus (lunch incentive program – earn off campus lunch pass) Offer all courses required to graduate School of Innovation – a 4 year waiver (2015-2019) – allow students About ALLPS

4 Empowering Student Voice Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Waiver Students attend 24 hours per week vs. 30 hours ADE mandates Students earn Fridays off by maintaining satisfactory grades, attendance, and behavioral criteria Friday schedule serves these main purposes: Allow students partake in various activities related to improving academics by getting additional instruction, individualized attention, social/emotional/psychological support, transitional services, college prep/search activities, remediation, health, wellness, character education, to name a few. Allow students to earn elective credits toward graduation in courses, like: JAG, Career Readiness, and Community Service Learning School of Innovation
