4 Unique to social work practice, the strengths perspective emphasizing client strengths and resources instead of limitations and deficits. The focus of strengths-based practice is to develop partnerships and collaborations, and facilitate empowerment towards independence. The ecological lens views the person in the context of their environment and the many interrelated (+/-) dynamics that impact the person on a day to day basis.
