7. Updates in Planning The Club Planning Toolkit has been updated for the 2015-2016 club year. The Training Resource for Clubs document is currently used for the SIA online training. Due to many questions on the background check process, a Background Checks FAQs document has been posted.

8. Background Check Requirements 1.All club members involved in Dream It, Be It or any project working with youth need to complete a background check and the online training. 2.SIA’s policy requires state registered sex offender clearance. 3.The cost of the background checks is funded by the club as part of your project. 4.Outside facilitators (counselors, educators, business women) do not need to complete background checks and the online training if they have limited interaction with youth. 5.If you have a current background check, obtain a photocopy for your club’s records and you will not have to complete the process again. The online training is still required. 6.If your club is supporting another club by sending financial help or providing support in any other off-site manner, a background check and training is not required (more to come on this item).

9. Updates in Curriculum The Club Project Guide has been updated for the 2015-2016 club year. A new Club Transmittal form has been updated for Participating clubs.

10. SIA has now outlined two separate ways for clubs to engage in Dream It, Be It 1.Participating – Clubs have held a Dream It, Be It conference or small group mentoring sessions for girls in secondary school, used the Dream It, Be It curriculum and provided the impact information through the SIA evaluation database. If two or more clubs are working together and sharing the management equally, all will be considered participating. 2.Supporting – Clubs that have supported another participating club through financial support, in-kind donations, providing speakers or administrative support and/or providing additional opportunities for girls participating in a Dream It, Be It project.
