2 MSI This contribution describes signaling support required for Multiple Service Instance (MSI) –Maximum of 6 service instances supported –Signaling can be enhanced to support MSI more efficiently –Multiple packet data service instance have some requirements »Need to identify main service instance »PREV_SID, PREV_NID, PREV_PZID to be included once This contribution identifies changes required at stage 2 level

3 MSI – Origination Add capability of setting up and releasing MSI Enhance Origination and EOM Messages –To include Multiple Service Instance –Reactivation of MSI (but not all) from stored configuration –Motorola contribution (C23-20021209-012-R1)covers changes above –Capability of setting up a call for multiple SIs simultaneously »Additional parameters for each SI required QOS (QOS_PARMS_INCL, QOS_PARMS_LEN, QOS_PARMS) NUM_ALT_SO, ALT_SO SO_BITMAP_IND, SO_GROUP_NUM, SO_BITMAP SR_ID, DRS, SERVICE_OPTION (Covered by Motorola contribution) »May have to enhance Origination Continuation Message

4 MSI – Release Enhance Resource Release Request Message (sent by MS) –To support release of multiple SIs simultaneously »Support Active to NULL or Active To Dormant transition –Nortel contribution (C23-20030402-015) covers changes above »MAIN_SERVICE indicator not required? »MS should explicitly request purge of all SIs (instead of purge of Main SI indicating release all SIs) Include flag to mean purge all SIs

5 Main Indicator Indication of Main SI (Not covered by any contribution) Need to Indicate Main Service Instance to BS –Add one bit indicator for each Service Instance in Origination and EOM message (to indicate if this instance is main or not) when »No SYNC_ID included »SYNC_ID included, but SR_ID not set to ’111’ –Add bitmap (6 bits) to indicate main_SR_ID, when »SYNC_ID included, and SR_ID is set to ’111’

6 Dormant Handoff Inclusion of PREV_SID, PREV_NID, PREV_PZID –MS shall include only in first Origination/EOM after SID/NID/PZID change is detected. Other changes are covered in previous slides –Capability to include multiple SIs in Origination/EOM message –Main Indicator (Identify main SI)
