NITR – Past Performance & Issues NITR NA is operating since 1995 (approx) Successful in raising funds for NITR (the performance was average) Support for installation of Prof Behera’s bust at NITR campus Scholarship program for “Best Student Of The Year” in 2005/2006 Fund raised for alumni (health problems) – Ashok Kamila, Bishnu Routray Handbook for students interested in coming to USA for higher studies (Amresh Tripathy and Shantanu Das) Issues Lack of commitment and ownership by the team Lack of generation of interest Many strategies were discussed in each NITR NA annual meetings but never executed effectively www.xcelcorp.com 7

9. New Strategy Create a new governing body (non-political). Each and every member of NITR Alumni should contribute towards this effort. Annual Convention each year (not at the same time of OSA Convention) Create local chapters Monthly meetings (to measure the progress) All the tasks allocated to the team must be executed as per the target date The new initiative will be treated as if it is a “profitable business entity or corporation”. 10. New Governing Body Advisory Board This board will be governed by a team of five senior NITR alumni who will be responsible for guiding and advising the activities of NITR Alumni Network. The selection of the committee will be performed on a mutual consent. This team will not be engaged on a daily or hands-on activities. Executive Board (National) This committee will be solely responsible for the execution of the operations to be performed. Register domain etc. Define the role of each responsible officer for his/her activities Promote the local chapters and their activities strongly Website and Strong marketing Create programs/promotions for NITR students for MS/PhD programs. Milestones: 2010-2011 Continue the past activities from 2009-2010 Initiate corporate engagement ▫ Promote NITR Network to corporate (Citibank, IBM, Oracle, Verizon, Dow Chemical, GE, Toyota, Pfizer etc.) and show the potential of what NITians are all about ▫ Engage them for sponsorship of research activities, interns etc. ▫ Annual Convention Sponsorship Identify alumni who are interested in kicking off their new business. Invite some angel investors/VCs to our programs and showcase the business plans for the alumni. Milestones: 2011-2012 Continue the past activities from 2009-2011 Continue corporate engagement Invite universities in USA to sponsor research projects in NIT Profit sharing from the investors / VCs Continue our premium services Expand the network globally (target 2-3 more countries each year) to reach out to the NITR alumni www.xcelcorp.com 15 Infrastructure The following infrastructure will be required: Dedicated Server (Dell Server / HP / IBM / Sun Server…) Internet Connection (T1 / E1 – at least 2 mbps) / Domain Name Registration Technical Team (for new design and development). A team in NIT will be responsible for maintaining the system * Jit has offered to provide the infrastructure to host the website and storage for the content.
