Convention of Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol of 1997 This protocol was aimed at global warming. The United Nations Framework on Climate Change is an international environmental treaty which their main focus is achieving the “stabilization of greenhouse gas in an atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system”. The Treaty was produced at the United Nations Conference on Environmental and Development. It was held on June 3- 14, 1992 in Rio de Janiero.

When the Protocol was Adopted It was adopted on December 11, 1997 but didn't entered force until February 16, 2005 in Kyoto, Japan. 191 states have signed and ratified the Protocol since August 2011. United states, Afghanistan, Andorra, and South Sudan are the only remaining signatories left to sign and ratify the Protocol.

Participation The green represents the countries that signed and ratified the treaty. The Brown represents the countries that have no intention to ratify the treaty and the grey represents countries that have not decided yet.
