Texas also leads in national production of grain sorghum, watermelons, cabbages, and spinach. Wheat, corn, and other grains are also important.

7. Hispanic influences found in the state The famous Alamo has a hazy recollection that the "fort" originally had been built as a Spanish mission. The famous Alamo is now a state historic site under the stewardship of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and serves primarily as a reminder of the Texas Revolution of 1835-36.
