FM2/FM3 IPSR AND FM4/FM5 IPERIDPU- 9 UCB, November 10, 2005 FSW Development Status Phase 3-4 Development Status & Plans (on ETU) Phase 3 & 4 software is being tested on the ETU. Once complete a software CPT will be performed on the ETU before it is tested on flight units. Version 2.13 is planned for instrument integration to probes.

FM2/FM3 IPSR AND FM4/FM5 IPERIDPU- 11 UCB, November 10, 2005 Two Engineering Changes to IDPU, both to the LVPS. ESA 28V Supply – Improvement to efficiency of supply was found to save ~700mW. Implemented on all LVPS boards. Thermal Qualification will be during FM4/FM5 TVAC, although lowering of power dissipation is a low risk. 2.5V Supply – High current draw on the 2.5V supply and drops across instrument switches on PCB caused concern for margin in this supply. A tight tolerance is required by the end user (Actels). Although the supply had worked well throughout all integration and environmental testing it was felt margin should be improved. This was achieved in two ways; (i)2.5V level was increased to 2.6V at LVPS. This has been used successfully on other missions using the same Actels. (ii)Instrument switch on PCB had impedance of 1 Ohm. A lower impedance FET was paralleled to this to give a total impedance of 85 mOhms. The lower impedance meant less voltage was dropped across switch and more was supplied to the instruments (FGM &SST). Implemented on all LVPS boards. Successful retest during integration of FM5 gave greater confidence of margin. Engineering Change Notices

FM2/FM3 IPSR AND FM4/FM5 IPERIDPU- 12 UCB, November 10, 2005 RFA from FM1 PSR Project Response: We tested FSW V2.10 with various packet minimums. Higher minimums eliminated packet header errors that occurred consistently with lower minimums. See details below. We have tested extensively with a version of LPT_TV_HOT.CMD that always produces packet header errors (ITM_ERRORS) on the ETU IDPU. The test version of the LPT_TV_HOT script (and sub-scripts) is like the original, except that it eliminates manual and unneeded steps to speed testing. We have used this with FSW versions 2.07 through 2.10. The script uses the default packet minimums of 4/4/10/10 (hex) for the EN/QL/SV/PB SSR segments. The script produces errors because it allocates ApIDs to SSR segments in a way that violates the ‘1%’ rule. No ITM_ERRORS occur when I run the same script with packet minimums of 20/20/40/40 or 8/8/20/20 (hex). These results support the explanation that packet header errors and absent packets are due to abnormal ApID/segment allocations and small packet minimum settings. Action Requested: If the problem represented by PFRs 45 and 65 is readily reproduced, run a test which produces the error, then change the “minimum packet” threshold and rerun the same test and confirm that the problem does not occur, so that you can better justify not addressing these problems.

FM2/FM3 IPSR AND FM4/FM5 IPERIDPU- 13 UCB, November 10, 2005 There are no open PFRs for the IDPU FM2 and FM3. Three Open PFRs presented at previous review (FM1 PSR) are now closed: PFR-045: Packet problem with ESA data & PFR-065: Packet problem during ‘continuous mode’. Both of these were found to be problem with the packet minimums in SSR memory. This has been changed and the scripts have been updated. Since then the problem has not been seen during testing. See RFA response above. PFR-056: Power disruption during CPT. The cause of the anomaly was tracked down to plugging in the SPB motor simulators into the SPB Enable connectors while power was applied to the instrument suite. This setup should not have been used. The instrument suite should be powered off prior to any mates/demates to any connectors. The procedures for the CPT and Boom Deploy scripts have been modified to incorporate this change. All future testing will be carried out in this manner. On all occasions the instruments have been retested after the anomaly and behaved nominally. Analysis of the housekeeping and data recorded at the time of the anomaly does not lead to concern of latent damage. PFR Status for FM2 & FM3

This is run each power on of the IDPU and will be spotted immediately if reoccurs. PFR is closed, but will reopen if seen again. PFR-111 Misconnection of MAG Boom GSE to instrument suite. No damage occurred or possible. PFR-114 PCB Unused Op-amp pins shorted together in design. No parts damage. All boards have been reworked. PFR-116 Command missing from ESA initialization table in FSW. Fixed in Version 2.13.
