1 Simple, Irregular and Perfect Tense Verbs Objective: SWBAT identify, use, understand & know the difference btwn simple verb tense, irregular verbs & perfect tense verbs. Essential Question: How do you determine the difference between perfect tense, irregular verbs and simple verb tense?

2 Simple Verb Tenses There are three simple verb tenses: – Present Tense Action is happening NOW Ex. I walk. EX. They walk. – EX. John walks up to me. Add -S – Past Tense Action already happened in the PAST – EX. John walked up to me. Add -ed – Future Tense Action will happen in the FUTURE – EX. John will walk up to me. Add will or shall before the verb.

4 Perfect Tense This is used when there is an ongoing action. – There are three types of perfect tense. Present Perfect Tense – Add has before the past tense form of the verb. » The amusement park has remained my favorite place to spend a summer day. Past Perfect Tense – Add had before the past tense form of the verb. » Before this year, the Monster ride had frightend me. Future Perfect Tense – Add will have before the past tense form of the verb. » After this summer, I will have visited the park for six straight years.
