Wider view for scrutiny

Key challenges To build a scrutiny programme based around priorities, not organisations To take LAA priority based performance reports to the relevant scrutiny committees To develop simple and well understood protocols for undertaking scrutiny with partners To continue to develop the effectiveness of scrutiny

Things we are already committed to Moving People – Transport commission Flooding commission

Things we must do Protocols for scrutiny of partners Councillor Call for Action Budget Performance reporting Monitoring commission recommendations

Safer and Stronger key issues for 2009/2010 Responsibilities under section 17 of crime and disorder act Domestic violence Neighbourhood action planning Neighbourhood charters Treatment for Drug users (Health issue?) Out of hours enforcement for ASB

Environment, Housing & Transport key issues for 2009/2010 Improving housing in all sectors to achieve Decent Homes Standard (OSC) Joint Waste Procurement. Reducing waste to landfill and increasing recycling.

Need to decide your priorities for the 2009/work programme In doing this we need to be.. Realistic about how much can be done (2 further areas for commission work?) As specific as we possibly can To prioritise most important things We also need to bear in mind that.. Things change and we need to be flexible Will need to be endorsed by the committee in the next municipal year
