4 How it all Started Background –US Army Corps of Engineers post-college –Stationed Schofield Barracks, Hawaii –Project manager (platoon leader) vertical construction US PACCOM –HQs on Oahu –AOR, pacific rim, and parts of Asia –Give and take, projects in Micronesian Islands, Marshall Islands, Vietnam, Thailand, Madagascar and Bangladesh. – Project manager alternate, 3-years, good track record

7 Scope Management Planning the scope –US or Bangladesh engineers Defining the scope –Project drawings (IFE verses IFC) Creating the work breakdown schedule –More than just construction tasks Verifying the project scope –reconnaissance Controlling the project scope –Local construction expert

8 Time Management Defining project activities –Poor project scope development –Poor understanding on materials of construction (aggregate, steel, brick) –Labor cheap, equipment is not Sequencing the project work –Followed logical path Estimating the project resources –Difficult at best Estimating activity durations –Requires local expert
