Elementary ----- Introducing Yourself Warm up: Opening chat--- 5 minutes Review previous lesson’s content ---5 minutes Check if your student has completed self-study of the lesson. The class activities are designed to help them practice the language from the lesson. Thus, it’s extremely important that they go over different sections of the lesson before class.

Introduce A to B --- 3 minutes A great way to make introductions is to use the phrase ‘let me introduce you to…’. Note that you need to use the preposition ‘to’ in this pattern. In the ‘Expansion’ tab, there are 3 sample sentences for ‘introduce’. Have the student read them aloud. These sentences show that you can use ‘introduce’ for colleagues, friends or even your future husband/wife!

Different ways of describing one’s job --- 5 minutes There are 2 different ways of describing one’s job in today’s lesson: - I work in… - I’m in the …business. Note that you should put the type of industry or role in the blank, not the name of your company. Ask the student ‘What do you do?’ The student can answer using any of the two above patterns. There is also another common way: “I am a/an …”. Ask the student what their wife/husband/brother/sister does?

She is _________. If you are from Japan, you are __________. Complete the following sentences using the words below: American British Chinese Korean Spanish French German Country Nationality Spain_________________ China_________________ America_________________ France_________________ Korea_________________ Germany_________________ Britain_________________ Note: when you talking about which city you are from, the pattern is ‘I am from Tokyo’, ‘I am from New York’. etc.

Dialogue exercise --- 5 minutes Put what you've learned in use and ask the student to introduce you to his/her best friend: Let me introduce you to (name of the friend). (Name of the friend) is from ________________. He/she works in ________________. There is a great ____________ restaurant. I really recommend it. Let’s go there this weekend!

Cultural Takeaway ---- 5 minutes Cultural takeaway: When you are at a social event, you should introduce new friends to each other. And you should tell them something about the new friend, e.g. where they are from, their work, their family, their hobby, etc. If there’s additional time, introduce your friend to your student and have the student ask you questions about 1) Where is your friend from? 2) What does he/she do? 3) What type of food does he/she like?

Encourage the student on where he/she did well; give feedback to where he/she needs to pay more attention. * Assign homework, i.e. the ‘Exercise’ part of today’s lesson. Student should complete it and submit it online. They will see an automatic score. * Have them listen to the dialogue again and see if their understanding has improved. * Remind students that they can save different vocabulary terms in the app or online and review them as flashcards. * Tell the student what the next lesson is.
