2 What do we have already? Survey of school grounds Places good for children Area behind willow mound for building things like ‘midget town’! (sticks and rocks making houses, creative play) The quiet area for colouring, tree climbing, reading Places good for wildlife Quiet area: nettles, wildflowers Quiet area: the apple tree and all the flowers with it Quiet area: The hedgehog house Quiet Area: Pile of rocks and branches Blossom trees by Gazebo Willow mound for animals that dig holes eg rabbits Hazel trees (nuts) by pond Apple trees by hall

5 Eco committee ideas for improvements - May Summer term For children Build more bug hotels Assembly to tell everyone plans Map of school ground plans on a display board in school? Write a management plan for everyone to look after school grounds Wooden benches around school Laminated tree name labels on all trees round school grounds so everyone can learn their names Log seats and table on concrete in quiet area Area behind willow tunnel is fun playtime area – children like making things with sticks, grass and rocks. Could we have wooden boxes with natural materials in them? Clear half the stinging nettles in quiet area Move spikey branches and dangerous rubbish from quiet area Tree house in trees behind willow mound Who can help us? Jen – map and tree ID Mrs Marshall – display board and assemblies and her husband Paul Williams tree surgeon – logs Barlows – wooden crates for bug hotels Blenheim Palace benches and logs
