8 Average American Andrew Jackson is a war hero. He won the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. He’s so tough, folks called him “Old Hickory.” He was born poor, orphaned at a young age, and had a hard life, but through hard work he was a “self made man”.

17 Southern plantation owner Tariffs are too high! Here in South Carolina, we’ve voted to nullify these taxes. Now we might have to secede if our states’ rights aren’t recognized. This Nullification Crisis has lead President Jackson to threaten military force against us, his own citizens!

20 Northern banker The United States has had a national bank since George Washington was president. President Jackson is now going to veto the bank’s charter- he says it favors the wealthy! Jackson is more concerned with the support of the common man like poor farmers than wealthy bankers and merchants like myself!

24 Cherokee Even though my people are very civilized, we are being treated like savages. The Indian Removal Act was passed to give our land to white settlers. The Supreme Court heard our case(Worchester V. Georgia) and ruled that we could keep our land. President Jackson ignored the court and made us move. On the Trail of Tears, thousands of us died.
