4 About Outreach & Business Services We are a leading regional resource for business, industry and government in western Pennsylvania. Campus-wide groups form the basis of our role in economic and regional advancement – serving to foster innovative ideas, support existing business and create new opportunities. The Management Services Group in the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology through its faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, offers a wealth of expertise and services in Business Analysis & Planning, Government Contracting, Training and Product Development and Entrepreneurial Development. Centers & Institutes provide unparalleled resources in niche disciplines that serve an important role in research and public service. Specialty Training is available for organizations who need high level, focused curriculums. Community Outreach and Civic Engagement are vital programs involving our students. University Services in other areas provide key programs for internships, career development services and research and development.

7 Centers & Institutes Centers and Institutes serve a variety of functions. Each is unique in its focus and is created to meet a specifically identified need. Centers provide an opportunity for faculty to utilize their experience through consultation, technical assistance and research. Centers provide excellent opportunities for students to learn, demonstrate their knowledge and attain real-world experience. Our Centers & Institutes strengthen the research and public service missions of the university and, therefore, enhance the quality of the education. With over 45 service units, Centers & Institutes provide a framework for faculty, staff, and students to work together from across the University.

8 Centers & Institutes Services A wide variety of services are offered to community leaders in government, business, education, human service, and health care agencies and organizations. All services rely on the expertise of one or more faculty members and usually include undergraduate and graduate students. Typical services include the following: Policy analysis for local governments Needs assessments Survey research Computer projects Software development Archaeological services including Phase I and Phase II surveys Specialized census and economic data reports Proposal and project development

9 Specialty Training Programs Pennsylvania State Constables –The IUP Criminal Justice Training Center provides regional training in 13 counties in northwest and southwest PA. Training modules include basic, specialized and continuing education training. Federal Bureau of Investigation –IUP offers a graduate level courses leading to a Law Enforcement Leadership Certificate in Weapons of Mass Destruction for FBI agents. Upon completion, agents can pursue 3 master’s degree programs.

10 Community Outreach Keystone Innovation Zone The Indiana County KIZ coordinates activities for three institutions of higher education, economic development agencies and businesses interested in building a knowledge-driven economy. IUP serves a lead role in providing resources, research and innovation. 11 Community Outreach (cont) Indiana County Development Corporation The group serves as an integrated service development delivery system spearheading economic efforts in the county by facilitating access to resources and information to assist businesses in their efforts to expand, sustain and grow operations. Through its affiliate organizations, the county can provide sophisticated business assistance and services. IUP is an active participant.

12 University Services & Resources The Career Development Center The Center functions as a comprehensive career planning and placement service within the university Resources and services include: –Career/employment search –Internships –Service Learning –Student Employment Center –University Testing Services –National Student Exchange program

13 University Services & Resources (cont) The mission of the IUP Research Institute (a 501c3 organization) is to advance the research agenda and educational objectives of Indiana University of Pennsylvania by encouraging, promoting, conducting, administering and supporting research in the natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, education, health and human services, business, information technology, and other academic disciplines. A full range of pre and post award services are available.

14 University Outreach Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex The 150,000 square foot complex will be home to a large-capacity arena, hotel, conference center, and auditorium and will serve as a conference center for the region. It will accommodate large events, sporting events, concerts and Opening scheduled for 2011
