SVD DAQ and Overall DAQ for DESY Telescope Test Takeo Higuchi (KEK) Sep. 26 th, 2012The 2 nd PXD/SVD Joint Meeting I have a serious problem in the Internet connection. Automatic Windows update made my IE malfunctioning. The slides uploaded to Indico are not the latest one, sorry.

Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting DAQ’s Goal for the Telescope Test PXD+SVD+DAQ+TRG are to have an integrated system test at DESY in Oct. 2013 to verify their whole readout scheme. Goal of the test from DAQ’s view is to establish and verify the data-size-reduction scheme using HLT feedback to the PXD-readout system based on the ATCA (named Onsen system). 2 Onsen:Japanese word meaning “hot spa”

Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting RoI Finding Position and size of PXD RoIs → Who will manage? – SVD-only tracking software to run in the HLT is surely needed, even which may be a simplified version from the actual Belle II tracking software. 12
13
Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Other DAQ Items Global run control → Managed by M.Nakao-san. – PXD’s and SVD’s own run/slow controls are expected to be developed by each sub-group. Online data quality monitor → Who will manage? – Checks on data corruption and event slip. – Data contents themselves are expected to be maintained by each sub-group. We will provide an example data-unpacker class for CDC. Please utilize it. 13 How do we track (define the RoIs) in the beam test study? → Take SVD hit positions and interpolate them to PXD layers.
14
Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Challenge – POCKET DAQ 14 Mini Belle II DAQ (“POCKET DAQ”) for the telescope test – “POCKET DAQ” is a general purpose small DAQ system suitable for test experiments; “POCKET DAQ” is a shrunk version of the Belle2Link- and COPPER-based DAQ system. – We develop “POCKET DAQ” and utilize it in the telescope test. SVD R/O“POCKET DAQ” to be developed by DAQ Belle2Link

Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting POCKET DAQ 15 Mini Belle II DAQ (“POCKET DAQ”) for the telescope test – “POCKET DAQ” is a general purpose small DAQ system suitable for test experiments; “POCKET DAQ” is a shrunk version of the Belle2Link- and COPPER-based DAQ system. – We get some fund to develop “POCKET DAQ”. Belle CDC readout COPPERs with cables

Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting POCKET DAQ 16 Mini Belle II DAQ (“POCKET DAQ”) for the telescope test – We develop “POCKET DAQ” targeting the DESY telescope test and will utilize it there. SVD R/O“POCKET DAQ” to be developed by DAQ Belle2Link

Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Pre-Prototype of POCKET DAQ 17 Mini KEK-VME crate for COPPERs and TTD, TTIO, TTSW. Portable PS for the MGTF cards irradiated. Snapshot in a neutron irradiation study to optical transceivers carried out in Kobe. Univ. from Sep.6 th to 7 th, 2012. In this case, MGTF cards (Bell2Link TX/RX) are mounted on the COPPER board. Optical fibers binding irradiated and on-COPPER MGTF cards. The present system requests your biggest “pocket”, though … COPPER and TTD boot-up PC.

Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Timeline Before the beam test: – SVD FADC prototypes: in Mar. 2013 – FADC→FTB→COPPER readout test: in Jun. 2013 DAQ group may be requested to make assistance for this. – System test including PXD: in Sep. 2013 Originally, DAQ group expected that September was the time to setup DAQ paths roughly in ~three-week-works; fine tuning of the DAQ was considered to be made on the fly during the October beam test. DAQ may need to work out our homework by one month earlier. – DESY beam test: in Oct. 2013 No question at all. 18 Discussion outputs from the SVD parallel sessions. At when and to where, what items should DAQ group ship from KEK?
19
Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Summary Goal of the test from DAQ’s view is to establish the data- size-reduction scheme using HLT feedback to the PXD- readout. Responsible person’s name to the specific job (I think) are assigned. Items to do relevant to DAQ are (implicitly) listed in the slides. 19
20
Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Amendments AFTER My Talk [1] Following slides list up discussed outputs during my talk. If you find any mistaken or forgotten items in the amendment slides, please let me know ASAP. 20 Written at 11:00am Sep.26 th, 2012 by TH.

Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Amendments AFTER My Talk [2] Magnetic field strength → 1.2T Will the GT3 surely be used in the telescope study? → consult Y.Iwasaki-san if he likes to join this program. # of DHHs → 2x DHHs + DHH-controller # of ATCA(s) → 1x ATCA # of FTBs and HSLB cards → 2x FTBs + 2x HSLB cards 21 Written at 11:00am Sep.26 th, 2012 by TH.
22
Takeo Higuchi (KEK); PXD/SVD Joint Meeting Amendments AFTER My Talk [3] RoI-finding software will be taken care by M.Heck-san using Jacob-san’s algorithm. Assignment of a responsible person’s name for the online data quality monitoring (DQM) is a homework to the next meeting. Event display should be prepared as a part of the DQM. DAQ likes commodities (PCs) are purchased in Germany. → there exists possibility, but R.Itoh-san are requested to claim # of PCs and PCs’ specification. 22 Written at 11:00am Sep.26 th, 2012 by TH.
