Habitat They should be the correct size for the amount of guinea pig(s) you have/get It MUST be a guinea pig cage not a fish tank You need to have the necessary things to have in their cage and they can’t be homemade because they could be harmful Chew toys, a water bottle, food dish, hide away, and of course the cage!

3. Food/diet Guinea Pigs have a strict diet. Seventy-five percent of it is Timothy hay but make sure it isn’t Alfalfa hay(that’s treat hay). Fifteen percent of it is food pellets. Five percent of it is treats like fruit and that type of foods. Only one percent are they chew toys you put in their cage to help the teeth from getting to long.

Grooming Pros and Cons Y ou need a soft round brush, clippers, and a warm hand Pet them while you brush because the first few times they may get scared if they start squealing and wiggling put them back and try another time A lot of short hair cavies( Americans) need a little more than a good weekly brushing and a nail clip. If you have a few minutes a day to take care of their coat that would be great for them. Grooming is an important part of taking care of cavies, so do it. You need a brush specifically made for grooming cavies others can pull their hair And clippers are NOT human nail clippers Long haired guinea pigs need wraps but not short haired You need wipes or damp paper towels rubber bands and patience No excuses brush them every day
