2. a note from the CCM Director, February 2009 Newsletter page 2 Thoughts from the ministry center My pastor often talks about divine appointments. Every Tuesday and Thursday we have divine appointments. Take for instance one Thursday at the Baptist Center. Earlier in the week a young man had called for an appointment. He was concerned that we would not help him because of his past behavior. He told me he wasn’t good enough to get help. I assured him that none of us are “good” and that we would be glad to help him. I told him about the Bible Study and he made his appointment. Thursday came and sure enough, this young man showed up. He attended the Bible Study and afterwards, asked to talk to the teacher. This teacher spent 30 minutes with this young man, going over God’s word and assuring him that his sin could be covered by the blood. They prayed and this young man left with some new knowledge about how forgiving God is. This Bible Study teacher left with a burden but with the knowledge that God has set this appointment and this particular time just for him. Divine appointments. They happen all the time at the Floyd County Ministry Center. Please pray for all those appointments that God sets for us. Pray for the volunteers but most of all pray for those who come through our doors for help. And if you would like to see first hand what those divine appointments are all about….you just show up any Tuesday or Thursday at 9:30 in the morning and see our mighty God at work! Brenda Gail Baldwin Two years ago, after much prayer and consideration, I felt that the Lord was leading the association to start a counseling ministry. We visited several associations that had this ministry and tried to gather all the information that we could. In September of 2007 we applied for and received a grant from the Georgia Baptist Healthcare Foundation. This grant funded our counseling ministry until January 2009. I am sad to report to you that we did not receive another grant to fund this ministry for 2009. The ministry has not had adequate time to become self - supporting and the association does not have the funds to fund this ministry. Beginning March 1, the association will lease space to Crossroads Counseling for $1 a year. Curtis Heyward will continue to operate the ministry separate from the Floyd County Baptist Association. Please pray for Curtis as he continues this valuable ministry. Pray that God will provide the finances needed to fund this ministry.
