1 Floyd County Baptist Association www.floydcountybaptist.net May 2008, Volume Fifty-six, Number Two A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF MISSIONS There are three upcoming events that I am very excited about.  The first is our 2008 Annual Meeting. It is on September 28 at Fellowship Baptist Church. Evangelist Jamey Ragle will be bringing the message. I hope that you will consider moving your Sunday evening service to Fellowship that night.  The second event is our fall leadership conference with Dr. Henry Blackaby. Pleasant Valley South will host this conference on October 17 & 18.  On April 27 & 28, 2009, we are planning our first Evangelism Conference. The preachers for the conference are: Bill Stafford, Fred Luter, and Jr. Hill. Mike Speck will lead the worship and provide the special music. The conference will be held at Calvary Baptist Church. These events will provide great opportunities for us to learn and worship together as an association. I hope that you will support them with your presence and your prayers. Jim Floyd County Baptist Association Presents: Henry & Richard Blackaby Leadership Conference October 17 & 18th, 2008 *Look for More information later* It is almost Vacation Bible School time again. Remember to send us a copy of your report. SAT (Senior Adult Transportation) Program: We have been so blessed with our new van for the SAT program. When we started to think about what to do with the other car, we decided to bless someone else. The car was donated to “Macedonian Call” to be used by IMB missionaries home on leave. As you can see, they were thrilled!!! A BIG THANK YOU TO HILLCREST BAPTIST CHURCH FOR HOSTING OUR VBS CLINIC!!! Thanks to everyone who helped with the training! We couldn’t have done it without you!! We had a total of 10 churches who ordered VBS literature through the Associational Office! Thanks for everything!

2 Just another day at the Baptist Center…..thoughts from Brenda Gail Baldwin She came into the Baptist Center very quietly, gave her name and sat down in the hall. Her head hung very low as she tried not to look at those around her. She fumbled with her papers, looked at her watch a hundred times and patiently waited. Something about this woman touched one of the volunteers. Maybe it was because she was trying so hard not to be seen or heard. Whatever it was, the volunteer rose to the occasion. She sat down beside this woman and simply said “Hello”. The woman slowly looked up and saw the smile on the face of this stranger. “Hello” came the meek reply. The volunteer introduced herself and inquired about the lady’s day. That was all it took. She began talking. As I sat in my office, I listened to a story of sadness, disappointment and despair. I could tell she was crying by the way she was talking. I didn’t hear a word from the volunteer. I got up from my desk just to see and the volunteer was holding this lady’s hand. She was listening with all her heart. She was busy giving. She was giving this broken lady her undivided attention. She was ministering. The time came for the lady to go into the interview room. The volunteer stood with her, still holding her hand, and told her she would meet her in the Bible study room to help with her food list. A smile slowly rose on the lady’s face. “Thank you” was all she said. But in those two words, she let the volunteer know how much the talk had meant to her. That’s what the volunteers do at the Baptist Center. They minister in the name of Jesus. “Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38 The Floyd County Baptist Association has available for churches a DVD from the North American Mission Board called “Understanding Jehovah’s Witnesses”. This DVD presents a clear picture of what Jehovah’s Witnesses believe and gives practical strategies for presenting the Gospel to them. You will get answers to your questions concerning this controversial American made religion. It is available for your use. Call the FCBA Office to reserve this informational DVD. a note from the CCM Director! The Georgia Baptist Convention recently recognized the fastest growing Sunday Schools for the years 2004-2007.
