7 Immigration in the Colonies As the colonies developed, Europeans began to arrive. At first most of them where English. Then, during 1700’s larger number of Germans and Scotch- Irish arrived.

8 50% of them were indentured servants. (Indentured Servants: individual who agreed to work without wages for a period of time in exchange for transportation to the colonies.) Push factors: religious and political turmoil, unemployment and low wages. 1600’s 90% of the migrants to the English colonies came from England.
