2. The coast is a beautiful place to live. But there are two parts of the coast. Which one would you like to visit? Along the northern coast, the mountains drop sharply into the ocean. This forms steep cliffs. But along the southern coast, there are many coastal plains. There are also many sandy beaches and low land. There are also two natural harbors where ships can dock without crashing(hopefully).This includes the San Fransisco Bay and The San Diego Bay. There are also islands apart of the coastal region, too. This includes the Farallon Islands and the Channel Islands.

3. Mountains cover more than half of California. The Sierra Nevadas are apart of this Region. There are some beautiful sights in the mountains. This includes lakes, valleys, and national parks. Yosemite and the Giant Sequoias are some examples of national parks in the mountains. Yosemite National Park has North America’s highest waterfall, Ribbon Falls, which drops 1,612 feet. There is also a big lake called Lake Tahoe in the mountain region. It lays high in the Sierra Nevadas. It is the deepest natural lake in California. Lake Tahoe can be 1,600 feet deep! But though there are some beautiful sights here, not many people like to live here. This is because there is very cold weather, and when it snows, there is a chance (A very low chance) of getting snowed in.

4. The Central Valley is a region of low land that is great for farming. The San Joaquin Valley flows through the Central Valley. This is why people sometimes call the Central Valley the San Joaquin Valley. The Sacramento River also flows through the Central Valley. In the Central Valley, both of those rivers were joined by many smaller rivers. The Central Valley got its fertile soil by washing all the fertile soil down the Sierra Nevadas and into the Central Valley.

5. The desert is a very hot and dry place. Not many people like to live here. This is because it is very hot and dry and there is a high chance of dying if you have no food or water for a long period of time. But, some people like to live in the desert just for the hot climate. Many people like to live in Palm Springs; or maybe vacation there for a weekend or so. Deserts are the driest places in the world! They have super high Temperatures and very little water. The biggest desert in California is The Mojave Desert. It was formed by a giant rain cloud. The cloud dropped all of its water on the other side of the Sierra Nevadas. Once the cloud came to the other side, all its water was gone. Being it so dry, a desert formed. But just because the Mojave Desert is the biggest desert in California, it is not the biggest desert in the world. The biggest desert in the world is Antarctica. Even though it is so cold, it is still dry. And it counts as a desert because all deserts are dry. Some deserts are SUPER hot and SUPER dry, but all deserts aren’t all hot. As I said, Antarctica is cold, and it counts a s a desert.
