They would not allow me to go “mixed swimming” (2 Timothy 2:22; 1 Peter 2:11) The would not let me got to the prom (1 Peter 4:3; Galatians 5:19; 1 Thess.4:3-4) They did not permit me to go to the movies (Ephesians 5:11) They never cursed in my presence (Proverbs 10:32; 15:4; 12:18) They never signed me up for sports unless I asked (1 Timothy 4:8)

My Parents Were Not Normal They made me work (Lamentations 3:27; Proverbs 14:23; Psalm 128:2) They spanked me when I needed it (Proverbs 13:24; 23:13-14) They never divorced or separated (Matt.19:6) They ALWAYS took me to church (Heb. 10:25) They made me get my Bible lesson (2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14-15) They studied the Bible themselves (Psalm 119:97; 14-15)

4. My Parents Were Not Normal My parents were not normal and they were not perfect. They were concerned about pleasing God! As the Lord said of Abraham, “For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice …” (Genesis 18:19)
