Thank you to everyone who participated whether you ran/walked or volunteering at the event! We raised $4,000 in net proceeds to split between the two charities! Tyler and Jason’s 5K Run for Cerebral Palsy

“Sticky Note Stoplight” Each student receives one red, one yellow, and one green sticky note. When students are working independently they place the color sticky note on their desk that represents how they feel about their work. This allows the teacher to see who needs immediate help. The teacher may decide to pair students with green sticky notes with students with yellow.

Give each student a sticky note and tell them to put their name on it. Post a question on the board with four different choices. Tell students to come up to the board and place their sticky note on the answer they think is correct. Questions don’t have to necessarily be “right” or “wrong”. They could be opinion questions that may lead to a class debate. Smartboard “Stick it” Question: Answer A. Answer B. Answer C.Answer D.

Each student receives a dry-erase board, marker, and eraser. Present the class with a question. They get a minute to think about it and create their own response. This is silent, independent time. I use the word of the day to indicate it is time to turn to their shoulder partner and discuss their ideas. Sometimes telling them, darker colored shirts go first, or short-haircuts go first. They raise their hands once they are done discussing. Open it up to whole class, calling on individual students for ideas. Think, Pair, Share (Version 1)

Student are put in groups of four Each student is given a sticky note Students answer a question or summarize a lesson on their sticky note Group puts all their sticky notes on one blank sheet of paper Group collaborates for an answer to put in the center of the paper Four Corners Sticky Notes

Students are placed into groups of 3 or 4. Students are given a number from 1-3 or 1-4. The teacher asks a question and the group discusses together what they think the correct answer is. The teacher calls out one number and the student with that number has to write down the group’s answer on a white board. The students should not be talking during this time. (This creates individual accountability.) Numbered Heads Together

In this version of think, pair, share, students have various questions on a piece of paper that they will eventually have to answer. Usually the questions are set up in boxes. It is good to use this strategy as a review. First the students look at their individual worksheet and THINK about the answers to each question. They should not be writing or talking. Then the students pair up and one person has a minute to write down answers they think they know, then they switch. There shouldn’t be any verbal collaboration. Then the students take turns placing + or – signs next to answers that their partners wrote that they either agree with or disagree with. Think, Pair, Share (Version 2)
