3 Accolade (noun) a) An expression of strong approval or praise EX. The firefighters received accolades from the town council for their bravery in fighting the Preshtigo Forest blaze.

4 Adulation (noun) a) Enthusiastic or even excessive praise; fawning admiration EX. Some celebrities enjoy the adulation of their fans; others dislike it.

5 Anathema (noun) a) Something that is strongly disapproved of an avoided b) A formal ban or curse on something EX. Polluting lakes and streams is anathema to environmentally conscious businesses.

6 Commend (trans. verb) a) To mention approvingly; praise EX. Both Tom and Sue commended Laura for her championship skiing.

7 Eulogy (noun) a) A speech or written tribute of praise, most often one delivered at a memorial service in honor of the deceased EX. Mark Antony’s eulogy of Caesar is one of the best-known passages in Shakespeare.

8 Extol (trans. verb) a) To praise highly EX. Miguel grew embarrassed as the principal continued to extol him for a full five minutes during the awards program.

9 Homage (noun) a) Particular respect or honor shown publicly EX. At his inauguration, the new mayor paid homage to the former mayor for her achievements in office.

10 Laudable (adjective) a) Worthy of praise EX. Sparky took a first in the steeplechase because of his laudable jumps over the water hazards.

11 Reproach (trans. verb; noun) a) To blame or criticize for something b) Blame; discredit; an act of criticism EX. Why does Alice reproach me for doing what I am asked to do?

12 Reverence (noun; trans. verb) a) A feeling of great respect, even of awe or love; veneration b) An act showing respect, such as a bow or curtsy c) To venerate; show respect toward EX. Elizabeth shows great reverence for her grandfather.
