10. Fire and EMS departments require a variety of skills. You will be interviewed to identify your skills, talents and knowledge. A program coordinator will then try to match your skills to an appropriate assignment. For example, if you're a graphic designer, your fire/EMS department may ask you to help design a brochure; if you're a computer software expert, they may want you to help improve their existing information system.
