10 What Education Providers Training Providers Develop a ‘bank’ of ongoing workplace learning placements; -Further developing existing and new relationships with local employers -Work placement opportunities can be accessed by young people Employers: educate them about the importance of engaging and retaining young people

11 What Training Providers  Align VETiS study with appropriate industry work placement.  Allows students to develop skills and apply learning in practical setting.  WLC’s ensure that employers have a better understanding of young peoples’ learning needs whilst in the work place.

12 What Education Providers Training Providers Streamline the work placement process: One point of contact for employers, education and training providers in the region WLC will ensure that employers are not inundated with requests from schools, parents and young people to secure work placements and in search of apprenticeships/traineeships.

15 Phase two School identifies number of placements WPL works with industry to recruit and induct employers AIM: to deliver quality placements Placements allocated to students. Students meet with employer & completes induction.

19 Next Steps…  Invite your WLC to your school to meet with relevant staff. VCAL coordinator VETiS coordinator Careers practitioner Work Experience Coordinator SWL placement officer Assistant principal or LT in charge of pathways. VETiS teachers Other stakeholders, RTO’s, etc.

20 Your school ?  Are you a stand alone school or are there several schools in your local area all offering similar programs ?  Large v small VETiS cohort ?  Specialist areas ?  How functional is your school team ?  Form a partnership with neighboring schools.  Invite your WPL coordinator to facilitate that meeting – outcomes ?

21 Table talk  Outline the process used in your school for placing students.  Challenges: e.g. alignment, counseling, course selection.  How could you make better use of your Workplace Learning Coordinator.
