4 13.2 Biotic and Abiotic Factors Abiotic factors are nonliving things. –moisture –temperature –wind –sunlight –soil –water moisture sunlight

5 13.2 Biotic and Abiotic Factors Producers (autotrophs) – make their own food. get their energy from non-living resources. (sun) provide energy for other organisms in an ecosystem

6 13.2 Biotic and Abiotic Factors Consumers (heterotrophs)- organisms that get their energy by eating other living or once-living resources.

7 13.2 Biotic and Abiotic Factors Chemosynthesis – process in which an organism forms carbohydrates using chemicals instead of light. carbon dioxide + water + hydrogen sulfide + oxygen sugar + sulfuric acid
