3 Helping Each Other We are funded by Comic Relief We are funded until the end of 2015 It is a peer education project We want to stop people being sexually exploited We are training people with learning disabilities in Devon We are also doing staff training

4 Ground Rules If you need to leave the room, let us know. Phones off or on silent. No swearing or bad words Respect each other Don’t butt in Be on time

5 More Ground Rules Look after each other Look after yourself Ask for what you need It’s OK to make mistakes Are there any more?

6 Confidentiality Keep private things private It’s OK to tell us things that are happening. If you tell us bad things are happening we will have to pass that on.

8 Ice Breaker Who has traveled furthest to be here? Who has had the most exciting holiday? Who has the most unusual hobby? Who has a boyfriend or girlfriend? Who has had good sex education?

9 Quiz Put your hand up if you: Know what sexual exploitation is? Know how you can tell it is happening? Know what to do if it is happening?

10 Relationships What is a relationship? What kinds of relationships are there?

11 What makes a good relationship? In small groups list all the things that are good to do in a relationship, and all the things you should not do.

15 Sexual Exploitation In small groups: What is sexual exploitation?

16 Sexual Exploitation: what is it? Sexual exploitation is when someone uses a vulnerable person for sex. It is in return for something – money, drugs and drink or somewhere to stay for the night.

17 Grooming: definition When someone tricks someone into thinking they are special or in a relationship. The aim is to sexually exploit them in the future. They often gain trust through giving presents, emotional support or food.

18 Being Safe These things can help keep you safe: Understanding your rights

19 Being Safe Understanding your rights For example: Have a talk on human rights Join a People First group Vote or stand for office

20 Being Safe These things can help keep you safe: Being confident

21 Being Safe Being confident For example: Doing an assertiveness course Working on your self esteem Learn self defence

23 Being Safe Having a good sex life For example: Get a good partner Join a dating agency Talk to your partner Get some relationship counselling

26 Being Safe These things can help keep you safe: Knowing what ‘private’ means

27 Being Safe Knowing what ‘private’ means. You have a lock on your door and you can use it. You save your hugs for people you love. You don’t snog your boy/girlfriend in front of other people. You keep your private parts private!

28 Being Safe These things can help keep you safe: Being able to say ‘No!’

29 Being Safe Being able to say ‘No’ When you say ‘No’ you are listened to. You don’t have sex if you don’t want to.

30 Being Safe These things can help keep you safe: Having someone who really listens to you

31 Being Safe Having someone who really listens I get on well with my mum and dad I have good friends I have good staff I can tell them anything If anything is wrong, something happens about it.
