2 Gender equality You’re more likely to be poor if you’re a woman. Also likely to be doing most of the work. About two-thirds of the 759 million adults who lack basic literacy skills are women More than 350,000 women die each year from complications during pregnancy and childbirth — 99% of these are from developing countries. One third of families worldwide are now headed by women. One in every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime Of the 33.3 million adults living with HIV, 15.9 million are women. In sub-Saharan Africa, young women aged 15–24 are up to eight times more likely than men to be HIV-positive Women hold only 19% of parliamentary seats worldwide, and only 16% of ministerial posts. Globally only one quarter of senior officials or managers are women (UN, 2010)

3 Gender Equality Map There are areas in Africa that are still in serious to critical condition regarding gender equality So far there are no very good or excellent countries Areas around India and Arabia have very bad and serious conditions Most of countries are fair.

4 What percentage of improvement was aimed for? Women to comprise 33% of those reporting to the CEO and 15% of board members by 2016.

6 How has the situation improved over the last 14 years? Eg 2005, 2010, 2014 Objective : To increase the percentage of women reporting to the CEO and the percentage of women on the board. Performance: By the end of Fiscal Year 2011-12: the percentage of women reporting directly to the CEO increased from 15% to 25%; the percentage of board members who were women was 12%. There were 91 girls for every 100 boys in primary school, up from 85 girls in 1999. There were significant progress has been made in closing gender gaps in Sub-Saharan Africa: by 2008. 7 The Countries With the Least gender equality The ten lowest ranked countries in terms of gender equality according to GII 1. Yemen 2. Afghanistan 3. Niger 4. Saudi Arabia 5. Congo 6. Liberia 7. Central African republic 8. Mali 9. Seirra Leone 10. Mauritania Mauritania These places women get very little to no say in what they can do and have very little freedom in their life.

Germany 8. Slovenia 9. France 10. Iceland France. In these countries women are most equal to men and have power and have the same rights as men, Australia is ranked 24th

9 Who has helped? Government The Australian government has made many websites about gender equality. The AICD (Australian Institute of Company Directors) want to insure that 30% of company directors are female by the end of 2018. The government has created an action plan for 2012-2015 The government created international women's day United nations. The united nations has created a website - The website has videos informing people about gender equlity - Places where you can donate Its has increased from 8.3% in 2009 to 20% in 2015

10 Who has helped? World vision and ACFID organization members have helped out. Emma Watson calls on men to help fight gender inequality: 'It's your issue too' Emma Watson has called on men to help end gender inequality. During a speech made in New York as part of her role as UN Women Goodwill ambassador, the Harry Potter actress questioned how her objective will ever be reached if only half the population take part.

12 What still needs to be done? Countries around this area still needs to improve there condition regarding gender equality. The countries that all ready achieved their goal could help these countries.
