Your Mission… Check DUTY Schedule for each day. Look for your name on each day. Look for conflicts, notify Jean Landry immediately! If you are reading directions 1 st period, pick up a manual today. Use Control F to find your name/room number

TAKS Testing Overview Monday April 22: ◦ Senior Retest ELA Tuesday April 23: ◦ 11 th TAKS Math ◦ Senior Retest Math Wednesday April 24: ◦ 11 th TAKS Science ◦ Senior Retest Science Thursday April 25: ◦ 11 th Social Studies ◦ Senior Retest Social Studies CHANGE in PROCEDURE 1 st period test administrator will pick up test materials from AD113 in main office. Please know your testing room # for bin pick up!

Testing Schedule for Tues/Wed April 23 & 24 11 th test Math/Science in Alpha Classrooms At 7:50, take roll, read directions, start test On Activity Bell Schedule 9 th, 10 th & 12 th attend regular classes some classes relocated; some students orphaned Students will remain in the testing rooms until 11:04** Overflow in Gym 3 Lunch options for Overflow (bring or get) Guthrie students attend classes at GC

Test Directions All tests must be administered in accordance with the instructions contained in the testing manual. TAKS Manual

Test Security and Confidentiality Page 5-6 Read your manual All testing personnel must be trained Sign in = your oath No viewing or discussing test contents before, during or after the test You may not provide assistance, directly or indirectly, to students during the test (check walls and halls) Do not change an answer or ask a student to change an answer!

Pick-up Materials On the days of testing: Pick up & sign for materials in Main Office Testing Room (AD113) WHO? 3 copies of roster o Attendance – clip at door o Return in Bin – mark absent/overflow o Overflow – send with test materials Math on Tues – Formula Chart Science on Wed – Formula Chart

Graphing Calculators Not Allowed Calculators not allowed: ◦ TI 89 ◦ TI-nspire CAS ◦ any calc with a QWERTY keyboard ◦ Any calculator with internet access

Testing Responsibilities & Procedures page 60-74 (TAKS Manual) 30:1 ratio** Walls and Halls - your responsibility “Testing Do Not Disturb” Place sign on your outside doors Seating Charts ◦ Every adult must sign in with times indicated ◦ First and last names for each student ◦ Document movement of students during test ◦ Document date and test given

Testing Responsibilities & Procedures page 60-74 Active monitoring - THIS IS HUGE!! Students must stay seated and may not talk while students are still testing Remind students to record answers on answer sheet Only students may erase stray marks

Testing Responsibilities & Procedures page 60-74 If students change testing rooms, trained adults must carry testing materials and monitor student conversation. No talking works best! ◦ Students cannot leave testing for appointment and expect to return to testing. Fire Alarms ◦ Exit the building as usual ◦ Take care of testing materials No electronic devices on student ◦ Cell phones OFF, in backpack at front of room ◦ No iPods/MP3 players, etc ◦ No eBooks (Nooks, Kindles, iPads, etc) Overflow Lunch (if A & B Lunches are missed) ◦ Students eat in gym 3 ◦ Students bring lunch or get sack lunch

After Testing After testing students may read or rest Absolutely no electronic devices permitted IF all test materials have been returned to the main office, then students may quietly work independently on school work WITHOUT electronic devices.

After Testing Check answer document to be sure each STUDENT: ◦ wrote in Test booklet # for the test ◦ bubbled in ALL answers in correct section ◦ erased ALL stray marks Be sure YOU bubble: ◦ TAKS FORM for the appropriate test ◦ SCORE CODE for the appropriate test for all PRESENT students NEW-Be sure YOU complete the Blank Answer Document Report if necessary.

Return Materials Tues/Wed On Tues & Wed, Return all test booklets in ALPHA order with answer documents INSIDE test booklets. Return one copy of class roster indicating which students are testing in overflow and which students are absent from testing. Materials can be returned when all are finished as long as someone monitors the classroom.

Testing Violations If there is a suspected testing violation, report it immediately!! ◦ It is your responsibility to report testing violations If you are having difficulty with a student, report it immediately!! Call Command Central at ext. 2542

Active Monitoring This is the most important thing during testing! Most frequently reported violations across Texas: Accepting blank answer documents Failure to detect/prevent student misbehavior

MHS Issues Accepting blank answer documents Answer documents with student info bubbled on pre-coded docs Backpacks/cell phones not placed in front of room away from testers Testers seated too close to one another without dividers Teachers reporting to duty late or not at all

Penalties for Prohibited Conduct See page 7 (TAKS Manual) ◦ Restrictions placed on teaching certificate ◦ Reprimand ◦ Suspension of teaching certificate ◦ Cancellation of teaching certificate for a set term or permanently Did you sign in today? Did you sign your original oath?

Restroom/Hall Monitors Your job is very important! Eyes and ears in the hallways Notice classroom doorways/Need for help Do not be afraid to call Command Central for assistance One student in the restroom at a time ◦ If necessary due to long lines…monitor inside the doorway

Students & Restrooms Testing students (Aqua & Orange) will use restrooms in Blue Wing Do not send testing students to the restroom 8-10 minutes before passing periods Non-testing students should go to the restroom during passing periods or restrooms other than Blue Wing

“Orphaned Students” Small groups of students whose teacher has been assigned to testing duty get orphaned during certain periods. Unless told otherwise through email from Jean Landry, these “orphaned” students need to report to the auditorium where attendance will be taken. Remember relocated room means you & your students move to a different classroom.
