3 Organisational Key Questions Are we ready for funding? Where are we now? Our organisation’s mission? Organisation’s governance Organisational capacity

4 Project Key Questions What is the project for? What evidence of need is in place? Is the project of strategic importance What difference will it make? Which funders best support our intended project?

5 Building the Case Primary Evidence of Need –Local research e.g. Internal –Membership Surveys –Registers External –Household surveys –Focus groups –Secondary Evidence of Need National/local research from others Strategies/Development Plans by others

6 Practical Questions Is the project eligible? Has the project already started? Do you need permission? Who will write the application Who will manage the project/grant? Have you got partners on board? Cost of the project? Are any funds already in place?

7 Who can help? Examples of helpful organisations; Local Authority Sports, Community and/or Grants Officer –Advice on local funding, planning policies and strategies, local demand. Local Community Voluntary Service Centre (CVS) –Advice on local funding, sources of help, volunteer recruitment and retention. Sports Governing Bodies – e.g. The Football Association
