2 Your Journey Map You will be taking a journey through the book of Charlotte’s Web On your journey you will be asked to stop at several locations to test your knowledge. This will be your road map that guides you through the book of Charlotte’s Web. To begin your journey follow the spider:

3 Before you Begin… Decorate the cover of your Charlotte’s Web notebook with paper provided by your teacher. Title your notebook “Charlotte’s Web Notebook”. You will use this notebook to: Write answers to chapter questions Write chapter summaries Define vocabulary words for your vocabulary PowerPoint.

4 First Stop Let’s learn about the author of Charlotte’s Web first.
Read E.B. White’s biography and answer the questions that follow. Write the answers in your Charlotte’s Web Notebook. Title the page, E.B. White

5 Let’s Start Reading Your first assignment is to read chapters 1-4.
You will read chapter 1 and chapter 2 with your reading buddy. After chapters 1 and 2, you and your buddy will meet with your teacher to write a summary. You will read chapter 3 and chapter 4 during read to self time. Write a summary of the two chapters. Use the summary planner to help you. It is the 4th download on Mrs. Steves’ Website.

6 Questions over Chapters 1-4
After each reading selection you will be asked to answer questions. For the first set of questions download this worksheet. You and your buddy can work on the questions together. Write your answers in your Charlotte’s Web Notebook. Remember to answer in a complete sentence!

7 Vocabulary PowerPoint
After each section of reading, you will make a vocabulary PowerPoint. The first slide should be titled “Charlotte’s Web Vocabulary”. Make it unique! Every slide should have one vocabulary word in the title box. Give the definition in the text box. Find your definition using Word Central. After the definition, find a picture and write a sentence using the word. It can be a sentence from your reading. Check out the example, here.

28 Alphabet Book You will make an alphabet book based on Charlotte’s Web.
Each page of your book will represent each letter of the alphabet. You must include a sentence with the word. For example A: Fern had an older brother named Avery. You will do a picture and sentence for each letter of the alphabet. It must be a word associated with the book Charlotte’s web. Make each sentence in your Charlotte’s Web notebook first. Final draft will be made in to a book with paper provided by Mrs. Steves.
