Cheer Regionals Competition Phoenix, AZ November 19, 2016 Time and Venue TBD Outdoor practice fields and indoor practice locations New placement for cheer teams when practicing at Meadowbrook. Currently researching and reserving possible venues for occasional indoor practice location.

Player Safety Coach: Chris Osmun What is the Player Safety Coach (PSC)? Train all coaches Heads Up Football principles Facilitate safe practices and game day operations. Monitor and ensure coaches are using proper methods during practices throughout the season. Heads Up Football Sponsored by USA Football Principals Every coach on PPW rosters must demonstrate proper principles prior to coaching 2016 Palomar Conference Head Coaches PSC Training Clinic This year ALL head coaches are required to attend rather than just the PSC PPW will host the event—every Head Coach in Palomar Conference will be in attendance 2016 PPW will have three official PSCs: Keith Kramer (2016), Chris Osmun, Jason Gonzales

Scholastics Coordinator: Richard Figone Little Scholars must reach a GPA of 96% or higher. To be nominated for the Little Scholars award, parents must submit: Little Scholars application Full year of report cards Any and all extra curricular activities and accomplishments from the year Must be in 5 th grade or above to be eligible Based on the Little Scholars application package, National Pop Warner ranks kids in three categories: First Team (The top 35 in the Nation) Second Team Honorable Mention This year we’re proud to announce we have 22 Little Scholars!!

Player Agent: Byron Wiedeman Responsibilities – Player / Parent Advocate Parent point of contact for issue resolution ALWAYS attempt resolution with Head Coach First If it is a team issue- Coaches Rep will be contacted to assist resolution If Board Member, Policy, another Parent…Player Agent will discuss with appropriate parties and the board Communication Time to address your issues – not the survey Understand the Parent and Player Code of Conduct Understand your team rules

Cheer Equipment Manager: Kristin Doubrava Cheer Uniform Fittings Sunday June 5, 2016 Poway Community Center (Nutrition Room) 12:30-3:30 Make up date Monday June 20, 2016 6:00-8:00 Uniforms ordered later in season to avoid fitting issues. Cheer Coach Rep: Kristin Doubrava Cheer Coaches’ Rep PPW Coach Expectations Training & Certification ALL PPW cheer coaches must be YCADA certified Participation at ALL events Fundraising Foster a positive, fun and safe environment for all PPW cheerleaders Open Communication with parents Parent Expectations: Support coaches while fostering a positive environment Following the Chain of Reporting Speak directly to Head Coach If can’t be resolved, go to Coaches’ Rep Do NOT go to conference! Safety Director: Michelle Dorton Poway Pop Warner is committed to our players and cheerleaders safety throughout the season both at practices and at games. How does PPW work to keep your kids safe? Equipment: PPW equips players with the best helmets and shoulder pads available in the market ALL helmets are certified annually 100% of all shoulder pads were replaced in 2015 Cheer mats available at all practices and games Coaches Certification All football Coaches go through rigorous Heads Up Football training and must be certified All Cheer Coaches are YCADA certified and must also go through intensive training. Coaches must also be CPR/First Aid Certified Medical equipment Head Coaches will be supplied with top of the line first aid equipment for all practices and games. Through a generous donation, PPW will have an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at ALL home games EMT will be on site at ALL home games

Safety Director: Michelle Dorton Poway Pop Warner has is taking player and cheerleader safety one step further by implementing new protocol for all Football and Cheer Coaches to follow. Injury Reports Injury Tracking How to define actual injuries vs. cuts and scrapes How should parents communicate injuries to the head coaches? How do coaches inform the PPW Board of Directors of any serious injuries that occur?

Fields Coordinator: Wences Juarez Field Locations Practice fieldsGame Fields Twin Peaks/Tierra Bonita Home Games: Poway High School Meadowbrook Middle School Away Games: Coach will notify parents Field Rules *Rules apply to all home/away fields for games* Absolutely NO dogs are allowed on any of the fields we practice or play on (service dogs are OK) Only water is allowed on the field at Meadowbrook and Poway High School--No sports drinks No food is allowed on the field at Meadowbrook and Poway High School. Game day snacks/oranges are allowed on the track Parking Rules Twin Peaks/Tierra Bonita: Park in student parking or along Twin Peaks Road (Budwin parking lot is closed). Do not park in ESS parking area at Tierra Bonita Meadowbrook: School parking lot or street parking ONLY!! There is NO parking in the small parking lot by the field. Handicap access ONLY. No pick-up or drop-off allowed!! Poway High School: Parking available in the parking lot NORTH of the field. DO NOT park directly in front of or beside the school.
