2 Bell Ringer (Day 3) Pick either 1 or 2 to write half page red to red about. 1.Is it better to enjoy your money when you earn it or is it better to save your money for some time in the future? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. 2.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? One should never judge a person by looks alone. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. Include the first sentence in the beginning of essay. Save these to be turned in with your test!

3 CPR After “Checking the Victim” (steps 1-9)….. 1.Check the scene 2.Tap the victim’s shoulder and shout “Are you OK?” to see if the victim responds. 3.Call 911 or have someone else call 911 4.Roll the victim onto their back while supporting the head and neck. Tilt the head back and lift the chin to open the airway. Look, Listen and Feel for breathing for about no more than 10 seconds. 5.If the victim is unconscious, but is breathing and has signs of circulation, place him or her in the recovery position. 6.If the victim is not breathing …give 2 rescue breaths. 9.If the breaths go in, don’t check for signs of circulation. 10. Go straight to CPR…. DO NOT WRITE….JUST REFRESHING!!

4 CPR After “Checking the Victim” (steps 1-10)….. A victim who is not breathing, and has no pulse needs CPR. CPR = Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation If the victim does not have a pulse, the heart is not beating.

5 CPR 1.Find the lower part of the breastbone and measure up the width of two fingers. 2.Place the heel of your other hand on the sternum next to the fingers.

6 CPR 3.Place the other hand on top of the first hand. 4.Compress the chest 30 times (at a rate of 80 compressions per minute) Apply enough pressure to depress the breastbone 1 1/2 – 2 inches.

7 CPR 5.Tilt the head back and lift the chin to open the airway. Give 2 slow breaths. 6.Do 5 sets of 30 compressions and 2 slow breaths in 2 minutes.

8 CPR Check for no more than 10 seconds to see if victim has a pulse and is breathing. 7.If there is no pulse, continue sets of 30 compressions and two slow breaths.

9 CPR Continue until: EMT arrives Victim recovers You physically can not perform CPR any longer Watch adult CPR on video

10 Classwork Read page 715 in your health book, “How to Use a Face Mask.” 1.What does a face mask prevent? 2.How do you use a Face Mask? (Adults and children only) Write the above questions. Save this to be turned in with your test. (worth 10 points)

11 Class Activity CPR Peer Assessment Find a partner Go through the steps of CPR Worth 10 Points Turn in with bellringers.
