14 14  Total Traffic : 3.168.934 Tons  Containers : 287.298 Teus  Vehicle : 27.886  2.056 vessels called the port during the first semester of 2008 among which 366 deep sea vessels  The remaining ones are caostal and oils activities suppliers  An increase of 27 % in comparison to the same period of 2007 2008 FIRST SEMESTER TRAFFIC

15 15 Comments  The arrival rate of two (2) ships per day  The average of seven movement / hour /ship  Five dedicated berths for containers  785 teus/ship  Six days (6) service time/ship  An average of 31 ships waiting for berth per month

16 16  Few infrastruture;  Lack of appropriate handling equipment for container;  Low productivity;  Poor Management;  Labour intensive;  Interface port city (all our port are located in town centre);  Heavy administrative clearing process;  Non generalise use of I.T. in ports.

17 17  Demurrage of ships in the ports and related surcharges;  Higher dwell time of container/cargo in the port

18 18 IMMEDIATE ACTIONS  Create extra port stacking capacities ;  Improve the management of container through the introduction of I.T. in all terminals and training of staff and labour;  Purchase of appropriate handling equipment  Reduce the allowed free time of container in the ports  Involve private sector in port commercial activities

19 19 MEDIUM AND LONG TERM ACTIONS  Increase storage capacity;  Install specialised handling equipment (especially container gantry cranes);  Providing extra quay length for vessel berths;  Operational issues;  Delocating the port and putting in place specialised terminals
