Lighting Beyond the Bulb LED Lighting and Lighting Management Solutions Todd Smith www.osram-americas.com

The LED revolution Lighting Controls and LMS Projects: Other key considerations 1 2 3 2 Overview

LED’s Not your regular Lightbulb 3 50% + savings vs traditional light sources Fully dimmable Long life (Up to 10 years in many cases) Embedded controls technologies Luminaires, Kits, Bulbs Not always a “one for one” replacement

Interior LED 4 Kits and Luminaires Oppty for Lighting optimization Photometrics recommended Normally a “one for one”

Exterior LED 5 Kits and Luminaires Excellent application Local codes apply Photometrics are critical May need to add luminaires to cover dark spots.

Sportslighting 6 Fully dimmable Up to 30% reduction in fixtures possible Approximately 40% reduction in connected load Optics and color temp are superior to traditional light sources

The LED revolution Lighting Controls and LMS Projects: Process & additional services 1 2 3 7 Overview

Energy Management Solutions 8 Occupancy Demand Response Time Scheduling Non-Lighting Loads Enterprise Level Control Task Tuning Daylight HarvestingFull Bldg Integration HVACPlug Load

Single Point Area-Wide Control: Cloud-based 3D interfaces 9 Cloud-based interface replaces current panel-level, DOS based systems, which may no longer be supported All functionality can be enabled through wired and wireless solutions depending on customer requirements and preferences. Each floor has its own layer that allows the user to see each individual control point, edit its properties, or assign new commands Staff are now able to navigate through their entire facility in a multi-floor view allowing for faster and easier navigation, from anywhere in the world 1 2 Benefits of the LMS solution

Typical installation 10 Full Building Control: Uniform, high quality look incl. dimming capability and fixture-level control Lighting scenes for all areas will be set by the staff Providing for uniform look Taking advantage of dimming capability and fixture-level control For pinpoint control within a single area/fixture Different departments with different working conditions and times can be managed to optimize energy savings and working environment. 1 Typical installations will have both zonal and single fixture level controls based on needs throughout a building. Occupancy, time scheduling, and daylighting are the most common strategies but modern LMS systems also allow for multi functional savings opportunities. Benefits of the LMS solution 2 3 4 Example

Stairwell Wireless Solution: Occupancy status based dimming – up to 70% less energy consumption 11 Typical installation Two-lamp, 32WT8 or HID/Incandescent stairwell fixtures. It is common for all existing fixtures to burn at full illumination 24/7 regardless of the stairwells occupancy status. Benefits of the LMS solution Replacement with intelligent two-lamp 28WT8 or LED stairwell fixtures, with an integrated dimmer that will dim fixtures to 20% when stairwells are not in use Controllable stairwell fixtures will save up 70% in energy consumption, compared to current use. !

Event and House Lighting Control 12 Typical installation The new lighting management system will...... turn off HID and LED lamps during setup time to minimize impact on ice... turn on the house lights, which will normally be replaced by 400W LED fixtures, or the LED equivalent 1000W HID fixtures provide illumination during events (i.e., NHL or NBA games) with additional 1000W Quartz house lighting fixtures that illuminate seating area. When HID lights are turned on, the heat that they emit melts the ice, which in turn makes the chillers work harder. Benefits of the LMS solution 1 2  Providing the same level of illumination, as 1000W Quartz did  This may reduce energy consumption by 60% and extend the life of the light source to five years  LEDs may being exchanged or upgraded

The LED revolution Lighting Controls and LMS Projects: Process & additional services 1 2 3 13 Overview

Typical LED / LMS Project Financials Both federal and local utility rebate funds are available to energy-related projects, which positively impact the financial outcome of the project 14 Rebate funds Five-year payback or less Payback time All solutions should be designed to meet each end users needs regarding performance and financial criteria Turn Key providers commitment 50% or more when combined with local and federal rebates Energy savings

Engineering Services 15 Design Team CAD Drawings Fixture Layout & Design Photo-metrics Existing Lighting Upgrade Design Service Compare savings potential of many lighting and control options Design / layout of turn key control system solutions to meet customer’s desired strategy Field Engineering Team Specification / audit Installation support Commissioning End User Training Service Support. Full turn key capability 15

16 Benefits Room by room full accountability All rebates considered and processed Complete ECM listing Existing / proposed All relevant financials calculated and applied. Investment Grade Audit

17 Turn key project management Installation, rebate processing, commissioning, end user training, warranty, service “As Builts” provided Proposal Solution Design Lighting and controls Investment Grade Audit Full IGA for lighting and controls or as specified by customer Rebate assessment Consultation with customer / end user Review any existing systems / controls Dynamics of the space (operating hours, conditions, tasks, etc….) Discuss various controls options and assess applicability Typical Solutions Process

18 All applicable technologies should be considered based on space and application Interior Exterior Wired / Wireless Hybrid designs usually offer best solution and value Advanced Lighting controls in dynamic areas or areas where combining multiple strategies is desired / effective Local controls in areas requiring simple on/off control Non Lighting Loads as applicable Plug Load Exhaust fans Heaters Tstats, etc…… Integration to existing BMS / EMS should be considered based on customer request / required functionality Typical Design Solution
