2012 Challenge: Drive Employee Participation

2012 United Way Campaign Goals 25% participation across the hospital $175,000 or more in employee pledges Make it fun and easy to give! – More paper forms available – GREAT incentives for First-time givers Anyone who makes a personal pledge Caring Club Members (pledges $144 or more) Fair Share Givers (% of pay, from 1 to 2%)

Important Details A pledge is defined as a personal contribution to United Way. Only hospital employees are eligible to win prizes. ePledge users are automatically entered in the drawing. Others must complete a paper pledge form to enter. A donation is not required to enter the drawing. – Check “I decline to give this year” if completing ePledge. – Enter $0 as your dollar amount on the paper pledge form.

Things to remember: No amount is too small. – Giving through United Way multiplies dollars. – Every $1 given = $2.05 in services and benefits. One-time donations are just as encouraged and appreciated as ongoing payroll deductions. Employees who do not work at the main hospital can enter “100” on the Donor Choice form to give to United Way of Wyandotte County.

Why give to United Way? Our community needs us. More than half of the people responding to the Needs Assessment in 2011 make $15,000 or less annually. Eighty-six percent of children in USD 500 are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Each night, more than 2,200 people are homeless and seeking shelter. A third are children. A third are turned away. At any given time, 1 in 3 families rely on United Way agencies for support. Many of those people are the same people we treat in our hospital and clinics. Many of our patients rely on health-related organizations supported by United Way.

Some of our community health partners who benefit from United Way:

It’s the right thing to do. The hospital is fortunate to be experiencing tremendous growth. We need to invest in the community that supports us. – Treads & Threads – Girls’ Night In – NCI designation – Many, many others

Important Dates Oct. 1: Campaign kicks off. Oct. 1-8: LIVE UNITED WEEK – ePledge by midnight Oct. 8 to be automatically entered in drawing. – Hospital will collect forms at “pledge parties.” See the schedule on 24/7 and in Center Express. – Pledge early for a chance to win tickets to the NASCAR Race on Oct. 20. Oct. 29-31: The HOME STRETCH – Final push to meet our goals. Oct. 31: Campaign officially ends at midnight.
