Gareth Jay BSc (Multimedia Information Systems) Email Address: garethjay@iinet.net.au

CUFGEN01A Develop And Apply Industry Knowledge Seek information on the structure and operation of the industry Seek information on industry employment obligations and opportunities Seek information on new technology Update industry knowledge

Seek information on the structure and operation of the industry Correctly identify and access sources of information on the industry Obtain information to assist effective work performance within the industry Access information on the specific sector of work Correctly apply industry information in day- to-day work activities

Seek information on industry employment obligations and opportunities Obtain information to assist effective work performance within the industry Correctly apply industry information on employment opportunities and obligations in day-to-day work activities

Seek information on new technology Obtain information to assist effective work performance within the industry Correctly apply industry information on technological advances in day-to-day work activities

Update industry knowledge Continually apply informal and/or formal research to update general knowledge of the industry Monitor current issues of concern to the industry Share updated knowledge with customers and colleagues as appropriate, and incorporate information into day-to-day work activities

CUFMEM08A Apply Principles Of Instructional Design To A Multimedia Product Receive and interpret the brief for the instructional design Generate and assess ideas Conduct research Select and instructional design model Plan and compose the instructional product Evaluate instructional strategies and materials

Receive and interpret the brief for the instructional design Liaise with the relevant personnel to interpret and identify the objective and learning outcomes of the instructional product, ensuring the creative, technical and production requirements of the brief can be met Identify all relevant factors which may determine and affect the instructional design through the breakdown and interpretation of the brief and liaison with relevant personnel Clarify target user/audience to determine the format and delivery platform of the instructional product through discussion with relevant personnel

Generate and assess ideas Generate a range of ideas for the instructional design which are technically feasible, respond to the brief and provide creative solutions to all design issues Discuss ideas and collaborate, as required, with relevant personnel to ensure contribution of a range of ideas and creative solutions to the initial concept Continuously reflect on and assess the creative ideas and solutions for implications on budget, timeline, technical feasibility, and suitability to meet the brief

Conduct research Research the range of instructional approaches that reflect the requirements of the brief and may influence the overall design development Organise research media and findings for use by all relevant personnel throughout the design development process, updating as required Evaluate the initial discussions and design brief against the findings and discuss with relevant personnel

Select an instruction design model Identify a range of instructional design models, considering their characteristics, differences and ability to meet the brief Consult with relevant personnel to ensure that the full range of models have been identified and sourced Select the instructional design model which fulfils the creative, technical, and production requirements of the brief Ensure that selection is based on an understanding of the user characteristics and capabilities

Plan and compose the instructional product Using selected instructional design techniques to compose the structure of the product, ensuring that all elements are fully documented for future use Plan content, sequence and interactivity of learning activities to be included according to technical, creative and production requirements Determine the relevant multimedia elements necessary to construct the product Discuss technical parameters and planning with relevant personnel to achieve the most appropriate format Determine the range of appropriate design parameters and employ these to fulfill the brief, ensuring the creative, technical and production resources are adequate to achieve the final outcome

Evaluate instructional strategies and materials Review instructional product to assess the application of creative solutions to the design brief, the technical feasibility and its appropriateness to the user/audience Discuss and confirm additional requirements or modifications to the instructional design and undertake any necessary amendments

Assessment 2 assignments 1 knowledge test TBA later

Multimedia What is multimedia “Multimedia is the use of a computer to present and combine text, graphics, audio and video with links and tools that let the user navigate, interact, create and communicate.”
