What is an NLC? Neighbourhood Learning Centre’s (NLC) are inviting places where people of all ages can access education, health services, recreation and culture seven days a week, twelve months a year – places that promote the well-being of children, families and the entire community. What is different? Some schools already have user groups space Athletic groups, community groups, Boys and Girls Clubs, day cares, pre-schools etc. NLC’s will expand the options Healthy Community Partnership Committee – September 21, 2012

Possibilities… Cultural – arts programs, dance, drama, music Sports and recreation – fitness, wellness, sports Youth initiatives – youth drop in centre, employment initiatives and skill development Health Medical Services - drug and alcohol, youth and family counselling, mental health support Educational - on line learning, tutoring, language support Summer programs Environmental programs Healthy Community Partnership Committee – September 21, 2012
