1 Broad Meadows Middle School How they stopped child labor. By: Sarah Gruber & Jenna Berman

2 What is Child Labor? Child Labor is when your sold to someone who can force you do whatever they want. In this area they sold children to make carpets.

3 Iqbal and the students Iqbal and the students are trying desperately to stop child labor. Children were forced to make rugs and carpets for stores. So when you saw a carpet there it was mostly made by a child.

4 Iqbal Iqbal was sold to child labor for $12.00. He was the first to actually try to stop child labor. A child made this carpet who went through child labor.

5 How did they try to stop child labor? At first Iqbal started giving speeches at other schools against child labor. Then Iqbal and the students started e-mailing other countries also against child labor.

6 Iqbal’s Death Iqbal was riding his bike when a man shot Iqbal to death at the age of 12. When the children of Broad Meadows Middle school heard about Iqbal’s death, they started asking for donations of $12 mainly because Iqbal was sold for $12 and he was 12 years old when he was shot to death.

7 Did they succeed? Yes, they did very well. They raised over $147,000 also they got to team up with other countries.
